Pouring at NotF in Boston. Pours a clear ruby color with a thin beige to tan head. Big and sweet initially, then dries out into some tart acid. Bright and vibrant, lots of bright acid. Tart, tasty, and surprisingly nice.

I love oud bruin, so I was quite excited to try this. Very interesting, but lacked the body of some others in this style, and seemed a little under aged.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy copper with quickly settling, minimal off-white head. Aroma is mildly funky, tart, oaky, vinegar. Flavor is mild, tart, cherry, berry, oaky, vinous, mildly tart and sweet. Overall, the flavor is mild and lacking. Light body, moderate carbonation, feels a little light and watery. Pretty mediocre in terms of flavor and texture. Had high expectations for this beer, was let down.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (2013 vintage).
Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel), lightly yeasty (barnyard), with notes of sweet cherry, oak, cinnamon, sour apple, orange/lemon zest, cranberry.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent.
Very tasty stuff, since it avoids the things that I usually dislike in the style. There is no hamburger, ketchup, or vinegar odor. And itís neither too sweet nor too sour. Very enticing aroma and very well-balanced, so itís hard not to enjoy. The only mediocre aspect is the mouthfeel, which is kinda syrupy and fizzy, but thatís fairly common with the style.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Murky brown-amber with a big light beige head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of wood, funk, bread, and faint caramel; itís pretty weak. Taste is slightly fruity sweet and plenty sour. Medium bodied, dry.
