3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at BrewDog Edinburgh. Reddish brown, only slightly translucent. Scent of sour cherries and mature oak. The sour taste is tempered by a savoury sweetness pervading the long sumptuous finish. Nicely weighted body. Incredible.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at HopCat in Ann Arbor. In prep for Rare Day tomorrow. The pour is a deep ruby tinted pour with a thin collar of white head and no lace. The aroma is full of tartness. A nice sharp brown grips the olfactory senses with a nice tart cherry and a great tartness. There is a little funk to it, but it's good. The flavor is very tart. There is a lot of roast and some malts, but it carries a great sourness that I love. There is a sharp cherry and nice funkiness. The mouth feel is light and tart with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly tart cherry aftertaste. Good oud bruin.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Copper body, fizzy head. Not pretty, but it’s the style. Red wine, leather, cherry, very interesting. Taste is quite sour indeed. Bit too much to be honest, because there isn’t any fruit to balance. It’s interesting but a bit of deep sweetness from dark fruit or malts would have been nice. (375ml bottle from ABS Drinks)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

J’adore!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
375 ml bottle from my EU Local Swap 3/2015 sender Anatole, thanks!
Brownish-copper, hazy body, with a tiny, immediately dissipating head.
Aroma of overripe fruits, leather, oak, funk, sweet and sour berries, apples, pears, some vinegar.
Tastes of oak, funk, sour apples, pears, vinegar, overripe fruits, slight leather, subtle sweetness.
Light mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes sour, dry, wooden, with pears, green apples, some vinegar, subtle overripe fruits
Nice one. Pretty straight, fresh and sour. I like the nose better, taste feels a bit simple, while still nicely balanced. Overall not among my favourite style examples, but enjoyable nonetheless.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Green glass, Editie 2013, EXP: 26/10/23. Tough crown to open. Nose a little high on the balsamic, very nice strong wood, cherry, tart. Seems tawny at first pour but under the light much more blood red, with a short-lived and fizzy tan head. Taste bone dry and strongly sour, shade south of puckering, strong wood and faint cork with cherry and a nice lactic-acetic balance; neither acid type is extreme [really dialed-in, perfect for this kind of beer] and it’s hard to tell which comes out on top (I am one who prefers a little more acetic in his reds and much more lactic in his browns, but the balance works here). Touch earthy-musty but overall still pretty bright; milky lactic slime in the deep finish but that’s ameliorated by that beautiful dry, tannic wood character. Very strong, scratchy wood, light sweetness noted only in the sharp finish/throat and teeth, fruit is intense sour cherry and jammy. Fullish body but not heavy. Doesn’t have that extra layer of complexity but nice and punchy, somewhat moreish staying much closer to maltiness than vinegar without forgetting the latter, very pleasant!

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is sour, dank, vinegar, fragrant. Appearance is red, light tan head. Taste is sour, dissolving into a vinegar, quite dank, and saltines. Mouthfeel is strange, strong’s carbonation yet light. Overall, Yowza, not good.
