Bottle shared with Bruce and Colin at Gainsbar - Kortrijk, Belgium. Pours lightly hazy, bright gold with a large, tight white cream head. Sugary white bread on the nose with notes of floral hops and Belgian yeast. Big sweet flavor with lots of sugary white bread, dough, white sugar, mild farty cabbage. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with some sticky sugars, yeasty dough. Not excellent.

This was Verzet’s first beer back in the spring of 2011, brewed at Gulden Spoor. Thin, cream white head, clear golden blond colour. Aroma of grassy hops, grapefruit, rosemary, bitter honey, rosewater, almond; smooth and resinous palate with strong carbonation on a sweetish, honeyish malt base, finish complex herbal hop bitterness, dry with warming alcohol, on the brink of astringency. This made it clear from the start that this beer company is something to follow up closely and though not all of their creations since then have equally impressed me, I remain curious for what they will come up with in the future.

Bottle from Beer Temple, Brussels. Orange with white, lacey head. Fresh aroma, orange peel, yeast, candy. Flavours reflect the same, light bitterness, light body, quite highly carbonated. Quite good.

Normaal ben ik helemaal geen fan van IPA, maar dit was echt een lekkere IPA.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2014 Bottle conditioned 33cl. Lightly hazed pale gold. Banana gum ester-heavy nose with notes of banana candy, rotting apple, white pepper and dish soap. Not at all like India Pale Ale, and doesn’t really come across as a Belgian IPA, rather something like a wet-hopped triple (sweet, estery, green). Highly carbonic / acidic in the mouth and slightly sour. A little over-fermented in the bottle.
