austone (334), Turku; Pori, Finland Jul 27, 2008 Dark copper brown, lacing white head. Toasty malty, a bit sweet aroma, some banana spiciness. Simple malty flavor, some hops and light bitterness in the finish. Very clean and subtle. SDbruboy (1821), San Diego, California, USA Jun 9, 2008 On draft in sampler set from Brewpub. My favorite of the bunch, but this is still not saying a lot. Clear chestnut color with a small beige head that leaves stringy lacing - looks attractive. Dominant toasty malts in the aroma, house yeasts, a little nutty with light florals. Somewhat roasty and bitter with herbal hops, though now that I think about it, this is a pretty one-dimensional beer. Medium body and gentle carbonation. tarjei (1166), Bryne, Norway May 11, 2008 On tap at Vesterbro Bryghus. Deep brown color, beige head. Aroma is dark, dried fruit. Flavor is the same, with some hops. Maria (3975), Thisted, Denmark Feb 1, 2008 Københavnske Øldage 07. Draught. Red-brown and the aroma is rather thin, but has a little notes of roasted malt. The flavour is rather bitter considering the style, and IMO it should be sweeter and fuller. It does have a little caramel, but the overall impression is too light. 2097 yngwie (3529), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 22, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Clear, deep copper beer with a minimal beige head. Toffee, borderline butterscotch, aroma with some fruityness. Toffeeish flavor as well, also here with some fruityness, and there’s also some bitterness and a roasted note. Decent bitterness in the finish. Medium body. I’ll have Newcastle Brown Ale instead of this one any day. Having tasted most of the brewerys beer, it’s evident that they do not aim at the conoisseur market, as theire beers are very boring. (071106)
