Warm golden with an OK head. The aroma has a light sweetness, notes of malt and metal. The flavour is slightly sweet with notes of malt, metal and a slightly citrussy bitterness. Pretty boring.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
33 cL bottle, Vestfyen Påske Krudtugle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a dense white head. Slight acidic grainy aroma with a small sweet cornish accent and hops. Sweet conish at first, goes into a subtle caramel yet dominantly malty/grainy flavour before a sharp bitterness takes over into the finish which is dry and bitter.

Nothing easterish about this beer. A gold version of Ren Pilsner. A bit more taste, a better palate, but thats it. It’s still a no good discount beer.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2010 It’s difficult to know which of Vestfyen’s Krudtugle beers is the worst one, but this must be a good candidate to the title. (Krudtugle is a common name for the Vestfyen discount beers with an owl on the label) The aroma is nothing but sour with no traces of neither malts nor hops, and the taste is repeating the sourness and combining it with a very metallic flavor. Actually this one tastes like licking a rusty and dirty iron bar found behind the local Aldi. The palate is thin for a 5,7% ABV beer, and yet there is too much alcohol-flavor. Nothing seems to be good about this beer; only the appearance is acceptable.
