3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2010 Bottle from Føtex, Vanløse
This beer is way better than I expected. It pours a completely black body with a yellow, medium dense, inch thick, head that lasts for a good time. Aroma is obvious with a lot of malts and noticeable coffee, but maybe a little boring. Taste is very malty and has coffee and english liqourice. Pleasant. Palate is soft and oily, overall a quite nice beer.
I think that Vestfyen beers once in a while has a metallic co-flavor, which I notice some of you have expierienced in this beer too. Personally, I have expierienced the metal-flavor in a lot of Vestfyen beers; ranging from the cheap Krudtugle beers to the more valuable Willemoes beers, but my bottle of Vestfyen Schwarzbier had no traces of this, and was thoroughly a nice expierience. I hope that Vestfyen will soon get better control of the brewing equipment, and be able to prevent this metallicness, as they in that case seems to be able to produce rather fine beers. Rating #265

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at EsBF09. Very dark brown colour, not really black. Almost no head. The flavour starts off sweet and roasted. But by no means roasted enough or hard enough to make it a Schwarzbier. Tastes good enough, though.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Not that bad, but also not mindblowing. I must say, that it is a hard mans job brewing a great schwarzbier. There are many, and they are not that bad, but getting closer to the Köstritzer will take some time. Maybe I’m wrong, but Vestfyen will not be the preferable.
