This Stout is mild, pleasant, and at the same time unique because of the addition of four different malt sorts, that at the same time gives it its dark color. The ale yeast adds the fruity flavors, that is accentuated by the fine American hops, that gives this beer a fresh bitterness.

Bottle at home, 01/11/15, as ’Uglens’ stout. Black with a well executed tan covering that dissipates some then stays for the show. Nose is sweet malt, tobacco, charr, cocoa powder, dark fruits. Taste comprises fruit cake, chocolate, dusty, light wood, dates, earthy, light charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok stout.

Svart/brun med brunt skum. Doftar och smakar som en porter med lite kaffe och choklad. Helt ok för det priset!

0,33 l can, bought at a danish ALDI market under the label Uglens Stout for 7,95 dkr. Black in the glass, not really oily, big but fast fading beige head. Coffie on the nose. Taste is the same with sweetness. Some licorice and wood. To the end more malty, low bitterness and getting thin. Okay for that price, especially for danish beer prices.

Let brændt smag og en lille smule kaffe. Ikke meget humle i smagen men en hæderlig stout til prisen.

Copenhagen 11/7 2015. 33 cl can from Aldi (Uglens Stout). Pours clear dark reddish brown with beige head. Settles as creamy layer of foam. Aroma is sweet of cocoa and chocolate. Soft carbonation. Taste is sweet as well with notes of cocoa and chocolate. Only weak bitterness. Pleasant enough for a discount stout even though a little unbalanced.

Foam is light brown and coarse. The aroma is quite amazing delicious of nougat. Nothing with the usual aroma pattern with hard roasted malt, rich coffee and / or chocolate, but nougat that smells soft and seductive. The taste is soft and dark chocolate notes with a little touch of coffee. Furthermore, it tastes a bit of hazelnuts and sugar, but without ever being too sweet. It still has the edge and elegant hoppy bitterness that puts the chocolate into fine relief. The finish is a little watery and reminiscent of a dry stout, but the chocolate theme surfaces slowly retains a fine aftertaste relatively long.

Can as Uglens Stout. Clear, very dark brown. Fluffy beige head. Aroma has malt, caramel something else, perhaps dried fruit. Fruity flavour, notes of chocolate. Sourish, bitter finish. Strange.
