I tried this twice as I thought I got a bad bottle the forst time... But sigh, even though this IS a very beautiful pour with an astonishing head, it’s just a really, really crappy "Belgian". The aroma was unbearable sour yeast and reminded me of old socks from a gymbag more than anything. The palate ranges from halfbaked dough and some raisins to rusted metal. One could disguise the badder things with some spicy food, but on it’s own it just falls flat.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark amber colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, beige head. Slightly muggy, yeasty aroma with fruity hints of raisins, dark berries, red currant, a herbal touch in mustard direction. Taste is fruity and slightly yeasty, notes of red berries, a touch of cherry, red currant, a leafy, herbal touch. Not too bad.

Off white modest head. Very dark amber near clear body. Lacings report empty. Aroma; caramel malts, dark syrup, spices, anise, pencil dust, leather, honey notes. Taste; dark caramel malts, spirited candies, grassy hops, anise, fermented jam, herbs. Somewhat dry, alright body, normal carbonation. Warmth comes at the end, with dark fruits, wood oil, malts and fragments of apple peel. Yes, quite alright brew. [50cl brown bottle, abv7%, #1053, BB27-03-15]

@ Havregatan. Bottle (500 ml) from Kvickly, Helsingör (21 DKK). Malty and caramely with fruity and yeasty notes, sweet with light spicy notes, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, bitter and fruity.

12 oz bottle. Pours a brown color, very little head, no lacing. Aroma is fairly strong sweet malt, clove, and banana. Flavor is very alcohol-heavy and yeasty. Palate is very thin. It’s a decent beer for being so cheap, but it’s not a real Belgian ale by any means.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein rötlichbraunes Bier mit ordentlicher beiger Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, hefig, würzig, Marzipan. Geschmack fruchtig malzig, würzig, Rosinen, leicht alkoholisch.
