I tried this twice as I thought I got a bad bottle the forst time... But sigh, even though this IS a very beautiful pour with an astonishing head, it’s just a really, really crappy "Belgian". The aroma was unbearable sour yeast and reminded me of old socks from a gymbag more than anything. The palate ranges from halfbaked dough and some raisins to rusted metal. One could disguise the badder things with some spicy food, but on it’s own it just falls flat.

Fine Belgien ale, do not expect dubbel, triple or quadruple. At a fine price I would buy it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear red/brown with very little head. The aroma is malty, caramel and sour. It has a sweet taste with very light bitterness that turns sour towards the finish. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Oily texture. Not good

Aroma of malt, roastyness, caramel and hints of nuts. Brown and clear. White head. Medium-high sweetness and light-medium bitterness. A bit watery texture, light-medium body. Average carbonation.

Flaske.

Pours red brown with a small head. Light aroma. Sweet taste with a dry finish. Not much aftertaste. Not a match for the great belgian ales but very decent beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 6 degrees C. Pours golden brown with small off white head with low retention. Surprisingly light aroma of malt and yeast. Taste is yeasty, malty and sour, with a metallic off taste creeping in. Somewhat low carbonation, watery palate and an aftertaste reflecting the sour and metallic aspect...unfortunately. Gets marginally better as it warms up, but it is not a good copy Belgian beer and not to be repeated

Belgian Ale is simply an insult to the Belgian brewing tradition. It must surely represent a dubbel, but it lacks both foam, fullness and palate. The foam is quickly gone, and the flavor is thin of a little hard roasted malt. The taste is watery, but then comes a little surprise of anise. Anonymous and boring hoppy bitterness. Belgian ales usually having lots of flavors, for example. dried fruit or fresh berries. Well, it is drinkable - but not with a particular Belgian flavor and quality.

Copenhagen 21/7 2015. 50 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. Pours light brown with off-white head. Dissipates fairly fast to thin layer. Malty sweet aroma with a twist of sourness. Medium carbonation. Taste is quite sweet with distinct metallic taste of alcohol. A good long sour aftertaste. Not particulary Belgian and not particulary good.

20.07.2015. 0,5l Bottle. Netto, Kolding. Amber brown colour with off-white head. As good as clear. Aroma is sour sweet malt. Rich with good malty flavours. There is a harsh sour aftertaste.
