2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. 7.0%. Best before 31.05.13. Pours a hazy deep amber with a dense khaki head. Good lacing. Weak aroma; yeast, malt and a touch of hops. Cereal, burnt rubber and alcohol notes as it warms. Spicy, malty and slightly tart flavour. A bit cloying. A citrus hop note tries to join in as it warms, but just lingers in the vicinity. Malty, spicy and rather alcoholic finish. Overall okay, if nothing special, but the alcohol in the finish was somewhat off-putting. 17.11.12.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rødbrun med fint, off-white skum. Lukter litt sur frukt, sammen med karamell og høy. Karamell og høy følger i smaken sammen med brent sukker, plommer og lett bondegård. Perlende bitterhet i avslutningen.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fine Belgien ale, do not expect dubbel, triple or quadruple. At a fine price I would buy it again.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Flaske. Farven er rav med en skumkrone, der hurtigt reduceres til næsten ingenting. Aromaen er ristet malt og anis medens smagen er sødlig, vinøs og maltet.

Pours red brown with a small head. Light aroma. Sweet taste with a dry finish. Not much aftertaste. Not a match for the great belgian ales but very decent beer

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
50 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 6 degrees C. Pours golden brown with small off white head with low retention. Surprisingly light aroma of malt and yeast. Taste is yeasty, malty and sour, with a metallic off taste creeping in. Somewhat low carbonation, watery palate and an aftertaste reflecting the sour and metallic aspect...unfortunately. Gets marginally better as it warms up, but it is not a good copy Belgian beer and not to be repeated

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Belgian Ale is simply an insult to the Belgian brewing tradition. It must surely represent a dubbel, but it lacks both foam, fullness and palate. The foam is quickly gone, and the flavor is thin of a little hard roasted malt. The taste is watery, but then comes a little surprise of anise. Anonymous and boring hoppy bitterness. Belgian ales usually having lots of flavors, for example. dried fruit or fresh berries. Well, it is drinkable - but not with a particular Belgian flavor and quality.
