COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Viborg Scottish Ale is true to the style with itís slightly smoked malty caramel flavor and a buttery after taste that is especially pronounced because itís brewed using an open fire in the old Scottish tradition. Because of the 7,6% alcohol itís classified as a Wee heavy. For food Scottish Ale is nice with fish. Top fermented and cellared in 6 weeks.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2007 Draught. Very dark brown colour. Malty flavour, not as peppery as expected. Full mouthfeel. OK, but could use more punch. 6 3 6 3 13

Bottle, 7.6%. Good hop aroma. Cloudy chestnut colour, small head. Quite acidic flavour, lactic acid. I guess there is some malt in there, but it is hidden behind this terrible acid flavour. 3 3 2 3 1

Bottled. Sourish aroma with spices and butterscotch. I even thought that there was a hint of vinegar in the aroma. Deep red/brown color, beige head, good lace. Bit fruity, dried dark fruits, light sweet, light bitter, fruity sourness but no vinegar in the flavor. Lacks a bit of body and even flavor. Had it on tap as well but didnít make any notes then. I remember it being better than the bottled version. Thanks to Dalle for getting this for me!

Bottle. Pours dark amber with red tones - no head to speak of. Aroma has a little bit of berries - and sadly some metallic tones as well. Flavour is better - some fruityness expanding with some sweet caramel - not much bitterness.

Bottled. Unclear, reddish brown with a beige head. Some smoked/peaty notes in the aroma, with fruit, malt and hints of coffee. Pear, sourness, fruit and some bitterness. Medium body. Some citricness in the finish. Off? Too much sourness I think. (061012)
