3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 cpetrone84 (959) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2012Pour is a hazed golden peach, deep amber core, tight white head. Nose seems to have a hint of bretty leather, strong yeast notes with a faint spice, light candied sugar blends into lemon zest and a tinge of alcohol. The taste is similar, a touch sweeter. Nice light spice and yeast but are overshadowed by lemon juice, candied sugar, and juicy citrus. Light body, airy, soft feel, and nice carb.

4oz pour at Max’s Belgian Fest. Pours a hazy orange with some thin white head. Nose is really nice, bitter greens, dandelion, classic geuze, brett, horsebarn, lemon rind. Flavor is really solid too, grapefruit rind, dandelion greens, flower petals, some light candy sugar. Medium bodied, tart finish. Very nice.

Draft at Global Brew in OFallon. This was semi clear and golden with a small white head. Lots of sour flavors and funk that seemed bretty. Also lots of nice fruit flavors. Some banana and sugars and late hops. The funk tended to dominate.

Bottle at home. Slightly cloudy blonde colour, small white head. Aroma lots of tripel, Belgian yeasty, gueuze funk, bit boozy. Taste is sweet tripel, with just a touch of sourness in the background. Think age has dimmed the gueuze element. Left this too late, but have had it before so can remember. Fair bit of fruit, apricot, quite full bodied. Bit like a tripel with a slight sourness. Maybe past its best, so a bit harsh.

bottle @ kulminator
pours blonde, big white steady foam
in the scent some sopurness, but in a weird, background way.
taste is way to much carbo, sweetness from the tripel, not realy sour, but more like a tripel, made more intresting . failrly dry , somewhat harsh in drinkability. an OK beer, but yet it is special.

On tap at Newburgh. Pours a deep black with a medium sized beige head. Roast on the nose full of sesame notes, sweet wheat. The sesame on here is stunning, and I’m certainly a sucker for sesame oil notes in darker roastier beers. Soft sweet roast, malt, toast and cocoa. A bit of banana peeks through, soft wheat. Lovely roast. This was super drinkable, and I certainly had a number of pints of it (and then a growler two days later). Tons of body for a smaller ABV beer. Really liked this one.

Tap at CK. Pours a low haze gold. Weak head. Lightly funky nose. White wine, roses, grapefruit, melon, lime. Taste is light, spritzy, hints of Girardin Geuze leather and grapefruit in the background and hints of some white grape juice and sugar cube stickiness. Interesting. Girardin comes out nicely. Beer is still odd. Enjoyable though. 8/3/7/4/15=3.7

On tap at Monk’s. Nice funky-oaky aroma. Lactic tart with a bit of yeasty tripel sweetness. Light amber hazy body with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts tart and lactic with some oak, tripel yeasty sweetness and gueuzy funk. Finish is gueuzy but tempered by sweet and dry tripel notes. Clean wheat-tang after. Quenching.
