3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bontus (566) - Waasmunster, BELGIUM - JAN 9, 2013
75cl bottle straight from the brewery. Pours dark ruby / brown. Big pale tan head. Nose is lactic sour, aromas and flavours are pretty modest and that’s a downside.
It’s different than the regular Generaal but it lacks the punch that other "special reservas" are famous for.
PS: I would love to cook carbonades with this beer.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bart (2919) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JUL 28, 2012
75cl bottle @ Kulminator. 27072012. Brown coloured beer with lots of carbonation and a medium off white head. Spicy malty and fruity strong aroma. Medium to full palate. Finish is herby malty and slightly alcoholic. Very nice.

Head: large, beige/off white
Colour: caramel, clear
Smell: boozey, light acidic, smells like an oud bruin, slight anuse, candy
Taste: start is bitter with irony notes, nuty, oyster sauce, licquorish, boozey, rum, end is quite dry with a boozey flavour, pretty good tough i think a couple years of aging would do miracles to this beer !

Little cloudy reddish brown beer, big creamy off-white to beige head, bit stable. Aroma: red fruits, sour berries, bretta touch, bit of tobacco, butter milk and yoghurt. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, overripe red fruits, sour berries, wild honey, little sweet. Aftertaste: sweet fruitiness, little bitter. Very nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7311) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 4, 2012
Very dense and stable, eggwhite-like head over hazy amber beer. Melanoidins to the fore, lactic acid, herbs and parsley. Spicy-sourish, with cinnamon, lactic acid, chocolate, wood, tannines - very complex indeed. Alcoholwarming after some time. Warming, well-bodied, bit viscous. Generaal is a very good beer IMO, and this is even better.
