3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bvc (940) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - SEP 17, 2011
33cl bottle. Pours with a huge lasting head. Candied, cake, brown sugar, dried prune, vanilla, Xmas cookie spice...very barely wine-esque. Body is lighter than I was expecting. Light oxidation, anise, gingerbread cookies, brown sugar, hints of toasted bitter malt in the finish. Nice stuff, would be better with the carbonation dialed back a touch.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thewolf (8241) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 16, 2011
Bottle, bought @ Bier Tempel, Brussels.
Pours hazy brown with a giant, frothy, beige head. Looks to have a bit of carbonation, this one. Exqusite aroma of caramel, prunes, plims, figs, coriander, holly, cardemum and pine. Fairly vinious as well. Mediumto high carbonation, dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is very nice as well, caramel, light chocolate, biscuits, Belgian sugar, cardemum again, some pear. Only mildly vinious in the flavour, just elegantly warming. A very, very good Belgian Christmas beer.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 goozen (1783) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - APR 22, 2011
Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy brown coloured ale with an big foamy head, and great well balanced spicy taste. Yes its now in the Netherlands the hottest place in Europe on the moment, but this is an great christmas ale for the eastern times.
