Douberd (1697) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2014
Stubby bottle 330 ml at home, into a tulip glass. ABV 5% Golden colour on the body, clear, with a tall white and soapy head, with good retention and medium lacing left behind. Aroma has some citrus, yeast, flowers. Taste is malty, with floral notes, light yeasty. Medium thin body, fizzy carbonation. Quite good, very drinkable and refreshing.

caesar (4713) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAR 9, 2014
Bottled, BB 17/10/15, large sample. Slight hazy yellow to golden color with a huge rocky slight off-white head. Aroma has lots of spicy yeast notes, hint of banana, bit grassy hop, hint of citrus. Bit citrussy bitterness in taste, slight sweet. Quite high on carbonation. Feels like 80% belgian blonde beer with 20% belgian white. Quite refreshing, just the carbonation is a bit too high and makes you burp after just a couple of sips.

Colour: straw gold, yellow with a big white head. Nose: citrus, hay, spices, green apple, yeast, biscuits. Flavours: vanilla, lemon peel, cookie dough sweetness, sticky, licorice, syrup. Finish: medium long, fresh and sweet. Faint hint of alcohol. Verdict: nice belgian ale, but I miss the bitterness to balance it out.

(unfortunately from bottle, is 5% bottle refermentation hard to transplant on keg?). Top pale ale sessioner, a true modern Belgian pale ale that is informed by modern saisons, APA and wit. Dry palate, hints of wit fruitiness, gently dryhopped imparting lovely citrus, but steering clear of the Belgoo dryhopping= air freshener trap. Once again, I am backing any fresh, below 6% Belgian Ersatz sessioner as long as BE sessioning lagers or pilsners remain sub par. This is one to gently seduce regular, high ABV-abstaining drinkers without making any quality compromises, for which Dilewyns deserves credit. Tap next time?

Yellow hazy with a firm top. Yeasty. Light bodied with a pleasant dry aftertaste. Not very complex but a nice summer beer
