Pours a cloudy dark brown with an average long lasting creamy tan head with some lace. Aroma is dark dried fruits(dates, resins, plums), brown sugar, caramel, alcohol, light chocolate, and mild roasted malt notes. Flavour is brown sugar, caramel, toast, dark dried fruits(dates resin, plums), alcohol, spicy Belgian yeast esters(mixes well with the mild alcohol warming), mild bitterness and chocolate. Really impressed with this one, we’ll done!

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, 10% as Vicaris Winter 2013. Surprisingly weak aroma, faintly fruity at most. Hazy very dark brown colour. Good stable brown head. The flavour is roasted and fruity. Good sweetness, balances off the alcohol well. Hint of salt. Late raw liquorice note. Incredibly well-balanced.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
75 cl. bottle. 2011 edition. Pours dark red with a 1-finger beige head. LOTS of yeast in the glass that ends up in all glasses after the first. Fizzes a lot.
Aroma is of caramel, roasted malt, sugar and fruits. Taste is chockful of roasted coffee (lots), roasted malt, nuts, chocolate, sugar, spices and everything nice. Gotta say that it’s pretty dominated by the coffee though. Sweet with a bitter aftertaste of coffee. Medium body. Good, but a bit too much coffee in the taste for me.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. As Vicaris Winter 2013. Pours darkly ruddy with a large creamy light tan head. Aroma is sort of dark malt and spice. Med + body. Flavor is sort of malty cola. With some hop. It is very nice to drink. Finishes less than dry, but that’s ok for winter. :)
