33cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Almost opaque dark brown color with some redness coming through. Medium to full sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Don’t get much aroma but that might be me since I have a bit of a cold. Taste malts, some caramel, slightly liquorice and slightly black fruits. Medium body and carbonation.

330mL from International Beer Collector BB 29/07/2017 Pretty impressive looking beer - deep bronze, near brown body, with a firm creamy tan head persisting. Aroma is rich, decedent - rich caramels & treacle, cakey, roast nuts, bucket loads of dried fig, date, prune, with a generous measure of woody phenolic spice. Thick rich body, doesn’t pretend to be a small beer - creamy, smooth, long on the finish. Must be said - letting this beer warm up pays will reward you! Great complexity & richness on the body - cocoa, nuts, dark caramels, vast array of dried fruits & savoury spice. Long warm finish, moderate bitterness, lingering liqueur-like sweetness. Proper good strong Belgian ale - one for a cold night.

Moderate apple candy aroma. Abundant light brown foam, creamy and elegant that sticks to the glass. First in the mouth a tad watery. Creamy feel and light coffee aftertaste.

Deep murky brown with nice big frothy head that keeps slowly growing, even after about 5 minutes. Sweet complex aroma of dates, plums, pecans, cherries and treacle. The taste has sweet molasses, earthy belgian yeast, dates, plums, cherries, raisins, spices and a smooth warming booze. Light bitterness in the finish. Full bodied and sticky. Really great on a cool evening.

Solid Belgian ale, satisfying. Above average mouthfeel. Large brown retained head. Clean, good malting with the yeast.

330 ml bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with moderate retentive head. Aromas of licorice, prunes, and dark sweet malts. Flavors of dark fruit, dark sugar, and spice with a light bitter/metallic finish.

Drank a 2012 bottle with Rik while watching The Hobbit 1 26-01-2015. I really liked the first impression of the beer. It kinda grabs you. Has a compelling taste. A strong, typical winter beer taste. Malt, wood, sweetness, some carbonation. Nice. The aftertaste is a bit fading. Liked this beer.
