Victoria Bitter has been Australia’s favorite full strength beer brand for many years. VB, as it is widely known, was launched in the 1890s and since then has developed a reputation as a great beer with a tradition of rewarding Australians who work and play hard.

The alcohol percentage went down from 4.8% to 4.6% in 2009.

Bottle. Doesn’t get a lot of credit, but I liked this beer. Simple, clean taste, nothing exciting but not disappointing either. Appearance is under average, flavor does not disappoint nor impress. I enjoyed this beer but wouldn’t want to call it ’full strength’.

It has a very low foaming as quickly disappear. The aroma is dominated by malt that fades in light hint of hops. The taste is also first most marked by malt, but mixes quickly with hops which remains in very good balance with the malty taste. I seem to feel more Czech than English touch in this lager. The finish is long, hoppy and pleasantly lager.

Lager convencional de aspecto, aroma malteado. Bastante carbónica, en exceso, por lo demás totalmente normal, del monton. Bebible, refrescante, algo dulce y sin nada que aportar.

375ml bottle from Walmart, China. Pours golden with a dissipating white head. Aroma of malt, and grain. Sweet finish with a harsh unpleasant edge.

Flaska @ Backstage, Varberg. Guldfärgad vätska med ett medelstort vitt skum. I såväl smak som doft är malten kraftigt dominerande, och till det en näven honung och gräs. Väldigt sött, liten beska.

It pours a light gold with a 2 finger head of foam and leaves some lacing. A pretty good looking brew. The smell is of corn, grain, and a nondescript bitterness. The taste isn’t bad up front; there’s a decent balance between the corn and grainy sweetness and a light bitterness. On the back end it does get a bit too corny and sweet but overall, it’s not that bad. Some compliment for a beer, eh? Usual carbonation and body for the style, it’s easy drinking. It might have been even better before the best by of Aug 2011. :^)

VB (commonly called just ’green’) was once Australia’s most widely popular local brew. Cheaper than most alternatives and heavily marketed, in much the same way Fosters succeed overseas. As for the beer itself, there’s nothing to recommend it at all. Its aroma is reminiscent of a public urinal and the head and the finish are weak and watery.

Tinnie into glass. Lots of white head above dark urine yellow beer. Minimal aroma. Taste mild w some slight bready malt. Slight sweetness in the aftertaste. Not sure I could drink more than 1 or 2 before needing to switch to something better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not ad bad as rated previously, better than most of the Aussie pale lagers, but leans to the watery side.

Red shiny golden color. Weak foam. Malty smell of dry hay and caramel. Taste starts sweet and becomes bitter in the end. Emerald a little bit flat.
