COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Victoria , a pilsener-vienna type beer, is the most traditional out of Modelo´s brand portfolio. Unique for its bitterness and strong flavor which instantly pleases even the most demanding consumer. With more than 135 years of excellence, Victoria is one of the oldest beers produced in Mexico.

Got this at Krogers on Broadway. Copper. White, medium head. Aroma: Light Caramel malt. Flavor: Started good, then this bitter, metalic flavor dominated to the finish. Sorry Mexico but you don’t even do as well as the USA in this style, much less the Germans. There are other dark beers from Mexico that are decent but not this one.

Poured from 12oz brown bottle, cool painted label, into Willybecher glass, a clear golden colour with nice white lasting foam. Aromas of husky grains, stronger hops than expected: floral with hints of black pepper spice. Flavour was grainy and surprisingly bitter too, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of hops here. Much more reminiscent of a classic German Pilsener than a crappy Mexican adjunct lager. Light and crisp, strong carbonation, refreshingly dry finish. No glaring faults at all. Good summer cool-off beer, good supper beer any time of year. I think this particular pale lager is receiving unfairly low ratings.

Rating from old notes. Apparently one of the oldest beers of Mexico that are still around, since 1880, aptly illustrating the historical connection between the original Vienna lagers from Austria and the modern ones from Mexico. Thin, off-white head, deep orange copper colour, clear; corn and caramelly malts in the nose, iron, toasted bread; neutral onset, strong carbonation, thin, smooth and supple mouthfeel, somewhat metallic, fruity malts with light toasted and equally light caramel touch, mild hint of grassy hops in the finish. Quaffable and not the worst in this style I tasted.

Light gold. Refreshing, malty, and a bit sourish in the finish. Probably not as good as Indio, but better than many other Mexican dark lagers.

Bottle. Deep copper colored body with a thin white head. Brandy and pears dominate the nose. ABC gum is the main flavor along with hints of raw dough. Bits of carrots also sneak through each drink. An overall decent light beer with an interesting character.

This comes in a bottle which is like a quarter inch taller than normal longnecks and is thus difficult to fit in my fridge. It is golden orange and perfectly clear w/ a thin foamy head. Its nose is sweet and a little fruity and grainy. This is relatively full bodied, esp. for a beer on the lighter end of the style alcohol-wise. It has a good bit of simple malt sweetness which is cut by brisk carbonation and firm, earthy bitterness. Modelo calls this a "pilsner-vienna type beer" and RateBeer has it as a Amber Lager/Vienna as of November of 2014 but it drinks and tastes pretty much like any cheap lager (not a bad thing in my book) only a bit on the sweeter side. I can get behind it.
