Draught: Sweet aroma. Smells of honey, mead, yeast, fruit, and berries. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized white head that diminished slowly. Lightly hazy. Very sparkling. Sweet flavor. Tastes of spices, cinnamon, coriander, syrup, and yeast. Medium body. Dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Dry finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pigfoot (2266) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 28, 2007
On tap at the Blue Nile.
Poured into a Kasteel chalice.
Hazy, mellow amber hued, with a big, puffy snow white head, filling the glass, slowly succombing, lace leaving...
Classic Belgian yeast aroma, gorgeous fruit and spice, apple and peach, plus apricot, and ?, with lighter layers of lemon, pepper and clove, ...subtle and lovely.
Taste: apples and citrus, light spice. Medium to light bodied, overall smooth as can be...easy, easy-drinking. A bit too watery for my taste, could use more body, but if their aim was to create a tasty, drinkable pale ale, Belgian-style, and in that they succeeded. Feels a lot like an American amber ale, with a special Belgian twist.
Clearly, they weren’t trying to clone or even emulate the Westveletern Abt 12...but employed their yeast to make a tasty drinker. Nothing wrong with that. You can gave more than one at a time, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

Draft at the brewery, in a tulip glass. Bronze and still with a barely laced head. Light metallic nose. Smooth drink, caramel malt with a light hop flourish. Barely in the background is a hint of the Belgian-y spice, but it’s quite subtle. Training wheels dubbel. (#3193, 11/10/2007)

Draft sampled. Pours a copper color with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, yeast, and some spices. Flavor is sweet with caramel, toffee, raisins, and dark fruits with a nice balanced between the malts and hops

On tap at the Victory brew pub. Pour a translucent golden amber with a smaller off white bubbly/creamy head. Aroma of orange, Belgian yeast and spices, bready with a nice floral note. Flavors of pilsner malt, bready, the Belgian yeast and spices are there. Some hop flavor and bitterness. Not sure this meets the Abbey Dubbel style guidelines though. Still a well done Belgian Ale.

Tap at the Blue Nile. Thanks Al! Aroma of light spice and orange peel. Mildly floral. With a hint of yeast. Pours rich amber with minimal head. Fairly dry on the palate with a nice amount of citrus hops and Belgian yeast. Creamy on the tongue with good carbonation.

Draft @ Spuyten Dyuvil that I won on a bet with a guy at the bar, either someone who worked there or a regular it was hard to tell. Pours oragne with a thin bright white head. Aroma is extremely yeasty with very faint hints of other things. Sweet taste that rolls over the tongue overall pretty nice.

A mild abbey dubbel from the great folks at Victory. Had this at the brewery, nice Belgian type yeast aroma and good hop bit. Again, this is a like a "light" abbey dubbel" but again worth grabbing a glass of.
