Exhibiting a deep, chestnut color and malty aroma All Malt Dark Lager is a very inviting beer. Mildly malty, with little lingering sweetness to note, Dark Lager is surprisingly refreshing. This is beer as it was meant to be, firm and satisfying. Seasonal specialty available January - April on draft.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Corny, grainy aroma, with tomato. Wet hay, light corn. A very weak interpretation of the style, with no distinct characteristics. Comes across more as a slightly darkened American lager.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Deep amber beer. No head. Aroma is strange, lightly herbal and toasty. Earthy and lightly chewy with a light herbal bitterness and a bit of light earthiness. Soft bitterness with some light chewy maltiness. Earthy and a little bit chewy. It’s not bad. Lingering crackery malts.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a dark amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet malts. Flavor is very malty, including some roasted malts. Pretty decent beer, not too much going on here, but it serves its purpose well.

Had awhile back at PJs [copper lager] - didnt realize it was a victory. Poured a dark copper body with small head. The aroma was light, but sweet. The taste is smooth with some malt in the finish.

On tap at PJ’s as copperlager, poured a nice dark copper copper with a good amount of head. Nice toasted malt flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

Draft @ PJ Whelihan’s <Copper Lager>: Poured a dark orange color with a thin head. The aroma was sweet. The flavor was smooth, absolutely no hops. It was sweet and easy to drink. Overall, better than Yuengling.

I had this as PJ Whelihan’s Copper Lager. They’re not kidding when they say all malt; this is an easy drinker (and competitively priced at $4 / 22 oz) for customers who don’t usually drink craft beer. The sweetness complements the various wing varieties served at the restaurant, and true to its name, its copper body looks great. This is one beer that drinkers of all tastes can agree on.

This brew is only available at P.J. Whelihan’s Restaurants and affiliates. I had this at Platz’s in Lehighton, PA. Its pretty much classic dark lager. It’s aroma is typical lager. It’s appearance is very gorgeous dark amber. It’s flavor is distinct with tones akin to Yuengling Lager. It’s silky smooth. Overall this is a great chaser with wings and cheesesteak.

Feb. 2006 on tap at Victory - Not all that dark, actually. As a plain lager, this is better than the regular Victory Lager, but as advertised, dark lager, it just doesn’t deliver. Crystal clear slightly darker than normal lager brown, weak aroma and flavor. Some nice sweetness to it, but again, just not enough. Mouthfeel was maybe a tad overcarbonated, but still smooth (if that makes sense) and very drinkable. Again, maybe a good crossover beer for the macro drinkers out there, but when I think dark lager, I think a lot more richness and stuff going on than this beer has.
