Poured dark brown with hints of orange and ruby in color and a small tan head that diminished quickly. Lightly sparkling. No lacing. Lightly sweet flavor. Flavor of chocolate, malts, dates, and sour mix. Medium to full body. Average carbonation. Sour finish. Hides 8.5%abv very well. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Lots of fruit, with cherry, raisen, plum, banana, something spicey, lightly toasted bread and some earth hops that got overtaken in the finish by the burnt toast. Nice beer. Pours a dark brown - similar to the color of black olives. Decent sized off-white head that sticks around a while. Sweet aroma with some raisiny notes, a bit of molasses and some briny olive likes notes. Flavor has the same sweet notes with some chocolate, molasses and a touch of prunes. Mouthfeel is decently thick. Overall, a most decent Baltic Porter. Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA

This is a swirling carbonated mess of dark goodness, with a boiling cauldron of thin off-white foam. The aroma is fairly restrained and just plain beery. The flavor is also fairly plain-jane, but still somehow delicious. Definitely silky smooth, velvety even, this delivers a very even keel of warm chocolates, a bit of roast, and even a hint of lactose. Nice. Where’s the cheesecake? Oatmeal, fresh wholemeal bread, very slightly roasted. Again wholemeal, liquorice, Malzbrew in the finish. Very well-bodied, roasted and balanced. Does not show its 8.5%. To hell if this can be called real Baltic Porter, it is a pretty good beer in its own right; I like it. Big thanks to CK!
