3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Drier and crisper than a Bohemian Pilsener with a bitterness that tends to linger more in the aftertaste due to higher attenuation and higher-sulfate water. Lighter in body and color, and with higher carbonation than a Bohemian Pilsener. Modern examples of German Pilsners tend to become paler in color, drier in finish, and more bitter as you move from South to North in Germany.

My Bottom Line:
A herbal hop zing pierces this Kellerbier’s wet hay, as whispers of citrus fruit and honey create even more merriment.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the hazy straw, lacing beautifully.
-If I have to find something to improve, I could say the body could be drier.
-The nose is surprisingly awash in malt aromas.
-This is not as slender and elegant as many German Pilsener, which is why I dubbed it a Kellerbier. Feels more rural in its intensity and flavor display.
On tap at Armsby Abbey.

Light straw yellow. Aroma is of grass, citrus, grain, spice. Flavor is more lemony but a nice balance of the same other than slight metallic notes. Light mouthfeel. Very nice US pils.

Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry crisp finale with a lick of bitterness.

One of my favorite pilsners ever from the best lager brewer in America. Have had many different incarnations of this beer and the majority have been stellar. Can’t wait to try the new experimental hop one in Raleigh in the new year.

Pours a straw color with a small foamy white head. Notes of wheat, pine, and fresh air. There is not a lot to this beer.

A pilsner with a nice hop presence, beautifully clear yellow, and shockingly amzing lacing. This is a must try.

Pretty good pils. A lot less pine than their most popular pilsner. This was a little bit more traditional German which was enjoyable but not as great as I had hoped.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Crystal clear yellow pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are standard American pilsner. I get a lot of biscuit and cracker notes as well as some light grass and a hint of citrus. The flavor has a small amount of bitterness and is very clean and crisp. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
