3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler from JC’s. Nose is beautiful fruity/juicy hoppy, expecting some rindy bitterness, there’s a little melon, and an intoxicating musk. Sickly pale yellow body with a short white head. Taste is strongly bitter, pretty dry with a bready finish, bitterness a little rubbery, body watery. Palate cleansed by these scrubbing hops, faint spiciness and graininess, and an element of hay/straw. Bright citrus is very nice, especially rindy. The malt bill is in the golden ale style, basically getting out of the way for the hops. Soft and quite repeatable, and I don’t know what it is, but this is pale ale that tastes decidedly European to me, perhaps with a bit of English woodiness, which might not resonate with anyone else. Enjoyed, and it’s a good semi-session, but prefer the sororal Mandarina.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
transparent gold, puffy white head with heavy lacing, pillowy with crater, thick lacing. Nose is surprisingly melon, softly pulpy, urea hints with dough and rind. Flavor equally soft, more grain ad bitterness, ultra balanced through the dry yet sweet fruit-grain end. Stunning, right out of left field. Imagine the brightest Victory pilsner with no C issues, all the grain-bitterness finish, yet heaps of high-attenuated melon balance. Nearly Table Beer or HF’s best, lest brightness but more dryness.
