Goodgrief (995), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 5, 2007 The brown ales are my favorite beer type, so maybe I’m overly harsh. It wasn’t a bad beer, smallish head but nice lacing, nice appearance...but lacked a little in the taste department. I definitely didn’t detect much of the "nutty or caramel" taste that others have noted. Good, but unremarkable. The other 3 people in my party really liked it alot, so take what I say with a grain of salt. kidwiththehair (43), Detroit, Michigan, USA Nov 24, 2006 Somehow got this one from a keg behind an abbandoned train station in detroit...that aside, a very nice beer. Nice tan head and firm peak, with a bronze pour, and nutty aroma with your usualy hints of sweets. Tastes a little malty with some nutty hints and slite bitter aftertaste. eaglefan538 (2021), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 3, 2006 Poured a typical brown-orange color with a normal head and with a touch of lacing (although, nothing impressive there). The flavor was only mildly nutty and was dominated by a caramel type malt. The hops were too strong for this style. The mouthfeel was properly carbonated and medium bodied. Would have another, but there are better brown ales out there. Also had the "cask" version and that one was much more out of character for the style. Served at a warmer temperature and with more carbonation, the hops were much imbalanced with the malts, which isn’t my idea of a brown ale (more like an amber ale on cask). argo0 (6019), Washington DC, USA Feb 4, 2006 (draft) Beige head atop a clear dark red-brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, caramel, cherry. Taste is medium sweet, cherry, light raspberry, caramel earthy, chocolate, faint sourness. Some roasty in the finish. Smooth light-medium body. scoobyluv (469), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Sep 24, 2005 dark copper, watery. slight hop aftertaste but leaves a bit of a funky aftertaste in and of itself
