COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Can’t imagine a better double IPA. Coniferous aroma. Caramel sweetness backed up by some earthy and pine hops. Extremely good brew

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity with crackers, white bread, grapefruit juice, pineapple, mango, moist grass, pine needles, yellow winegums, orange zest and lemon zest. Taste is slightly bitter, fruity and herbal with white bread, grapefruit juice, pineapple mango, papaya, moist grass, pine needles, grape skins, lemon balm, gooseberries, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter, fruity and herbal with white bread, grapefruit juice, mango, papaya, moist grass, pine needles, gooseberres, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. Considering the regular import routes for a beer like this I suspect this is somewhere between 4 and 6 months old. It does however taste like 3-4 weeks old. Quite impressed with how well this is holding up. Tasty fruity treat of an IIPA.

Mycket trevlig dubbel IPA. Men nästan lite för trevlig inget speciellt. Men är man bara ute för att njuta är det ett bra val. Mycket beska som hänger kvar. Grapefrukt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

@ Havregatan. Bottle (355 ml) from Systembolaget (30:-). Fruity and hoppy with grapefruit and pine needles, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and hoppy with a long bitterness. A really nice one.

Pours a hazy golden color with a big meringue like white head and great lacing. Aroma of citrus and mango with some pine and wood. Taste mango and grapefruit with some pine and earthy flavor as well as a bit of spiciness and alcohol sweetness. Good amount of piney/floral bitterness that is balanced by the other hop flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Good balance of interesting and complimentary hop flavors.

A hazy orangeish color with half a finger of white head. Smells tropical and citrus fruit up front with pine and earthy spicy hops in the back. Taste is much the same with a tropical and citrus fruit beginning, specifically orange, pineapple, maybe banana even, then an earthy bitter in middle with pine and floral notes, ends with a nice bit of caramel malt, honey, orange marmalade sweetness. An interesting blend of flavors, and a hop lovers dream. Well balanced medium bodied and carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy deep straw, with a white head. Hoppy, resiny, spicy aroma, loads of tropic fruit, spruce, grapefruit peel, hints of sweat and cat’s pee (in a positive sense...), gooseberry, apricot. Off-dry, medium bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Hoppy, resiny taste, apricot, spruce, light caramel, grapefruit peel, malt, citrus, grass, lemon. Very well balanced, quite complex, convincing hop profile, ridiculously drinkable. (2014-09-14)

Au nez, ça sent le thé et la poussière. C'est aussi herbacé. En bouche, c'est bien amère et assez corsé avec un goût de malt. La finale est sèche et amère. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
