COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Resin, goosebeery, and caramel aroma. Similar taste, with added spiciness and fruitiness. Alcohol taste comes through. Quite bitter aftertaste. A dire wolf brew.

Pale yellow, medium head and high carbonation. Peach and melon aroma. Taste of pine and fruit. Lasting bitterness, hiding alcohol well.

Pours a really light gold with thick head and lacing on glass. Aroma of piney fruit smells great, making me hope that taste will follow the nose. The first thing that hits me when I taste it, is the dryness, it sucks all the liquid out of my mouth. Piney bitterness not to bad not very sweet, cant sense any citrus or floral presence. Overall not to bad, kind of a strange beer but good.

ALLOVATE (2595) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 8, 2014
Pale gold in the glass with a slight mist. Initially proud white crown depletes to a film of suds.Green pine cones, resinous, deeply resinous hops, camphor, mint, lime zest, candied pear, honeydew and pale stonefruit on the nose; alluring and sultry, and clean as a whistle. Dry, vinous and dominantly piney. Quite light in body cold, filling out as it warms to room temperature. Notes of straw, hay bales and fresh baked white bread fade into the peppery, dry herbs and dried mown grass back-end. Moderately bitter with a continuation into the aftertaste melding with lemon and camphorous notes. All that aside it is wine-like, dry and parching like a wooded Chardonnay. This is a bit too drawing and drabby given the extraordinary aroma. A little disappointing. (12fl.Oz, BB 08/11/15, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

The aroma is a strong pack of hops like a traditional double barrel IPA. The taste is actually a surprising mixture of bitter and sweet, with an after taste that stays sweet. Unlike most double barrel IPAs, this beer isnt as bitter. Colour is typical golden brown with a slight cloudy disposition. Minimal carbonation with limited head at top (although i poured this beer into a high ball glass). Overall great beer worth the try if you are an IPA fan!

330mL bottle. Pours a pale straw colour with a sudsey white head. Incredible aroma of passionfruit/ tropical fruit, that also follows through to the flavour with some big resinous piney note to boot. Amazing beer.
