COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

On draft at the house. Reasonably priced! Smells of RESIN and hops. Pours a perfect see-thru golden with a nice white head. Mild lacing. Tastes of citrus and hops. Lightly flora. Nice bitterness.

Draft from Whole Foods. Dark gold pour with a thinning crown. The aroma is herby West Coast hops - tangy and lightly floral. The flavor is full and green, but still very pleasant - there are notes of parsley and green peppers. A dry, warm tingle develops after a bit. I was very happy with this.

Very nice. Probably my favorite Victory brew. Light, crisp, and hoppy. Very surprised it measures almost 9% abv. Will buy a 4 pack soon.

Draft. Copper with small white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, and caramel. Medium body with citrus hop bitterness and a nice malt body. I like that it isn’t a hop blowout like some DIPAs.

Bottle. Amber pour with a short white head. Aroma is floral and very resinous. Odd earthy hop notes as well. Light caramel too. Taste is strong resinous and floral hops with earthy hops underlying the caramel and sweet malt, citrus and toasted bread notes. Body is medium and slightly chewy with a dense creamy carbonation. Finishes with more resinous and earthy hops, floral notes, citrus notes, caramel, sweet malt, toasted bread and tea leaves. Damn tasty!

This was odd. Sometimes you say something smells bad and kind of exaggerate to make your point. Well, this beer had a little background odor that smelled - and I’m completely serious here - like farts. Not totally, but it was definitely there. The rest of the beer was stellar, though. But that was a weird aroma...
