Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Poured in SA Perfect Pint showing clear golden grass and well filtered. The nose shows notes of orange, pineapple, and a bit of cannabis. The palate shows good carbonation and a medium body. A good strong malt back bone with a lot of grassy flavored hops.Sharp IPA finish is toned down significantly by the malts but otherwise makes for relatively fun drinking but I think I prefer the single IPA.

33cl @ bottle. Double ipa col solito aroma erbaceo e fruttato. Molto beverina nonostante il troppo alcol. Mi ha convinto.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with white head. Good lacing. Grassy and floral aroma with citrus fruity notes. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter, very well balanced. Flavors of citrus, pine, tropical fruit, and caramel. Above average for style but not on the top tier. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle. Hazy, orangey, pale golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney and citrusy hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, orange, orange zest, an Asian touch with hints of lemongrass and red Thai curry, some resin. Taste is fruity and malty, pineapple and peach body, bitter hoppy overtones with additional fruity notes of grapefruit and orange, cautious peppery spicy hints of red curry and liquorice. Dangerously drinkable.

355 ml. bottle shared with people @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Obtained in a trade with LouS. Thanks! BBF 06/09/2016. Hazy golden, a bit pale, small white head. Nose is hugely intense citrus, C-hops, rich zest, faint yeast, in your face C-hop explosion. Taste is ridiculously clean & light, an almost non-existent base with faint yeast covered with C-hops, zest, lemon, light floral hops, faint pineapple, nothing overly bitter, hugely fruity & aromatic. So light & clean, drinks like water. Amazing drinkability & hop character. Easily one of the best DIPA’s I have had. Sort of makes you wonder about chasing all these rare USA beers when something quite common is this good and new to me.

Bold Double IPA. Not much better than average for the class in my opinion.

Clear golden color with a fine white head. Nice tropical, pine and hoppy aroma. Medium to full body. Nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. Grapefruit, floral, tropical and pine in a lovely combination. Power beer.
