COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Erg lekker double IPA. Geweldig !

Tap @ Beer geek bar. Pours clear golden with a white head. Does not smell like the freshest batch. Lots of resin, sweet malts, overripe fruits, caramel, peach and some citrusy hops. Taste is sweet with some citrusy hops, overripe fruits, sweeter malts, resin, orange, caramel and maybe even sweet strawberry. Wasn’t bad at all but it was definitely not the freshest keg. Would love to try a fresh one.

On Tap @ BeerGeek Bar Prague. I have had this before on bottles but draught is really great. Hazy dark golden with a creamy white head that stays forever, leaves lacing. Big hoppy nose, fresh aroma from tropical fruit and caramell. Big malt body, mild carbonated. The taste kind of expolde with fruits, sweets and some pine.

Pale amber colored, small white head. Aroma is standard caramel backbone with nice pine and citrusy hops. Taste is caramel malt, moderate+ sweet with strong pine and citrus hoppiness with medium+ bitterness, dry bitter finish. Medium-full bodied and moderate carbonation, oily. Quite good! Older bottle, can only imagine what it tastes like fresh! (Bottle from Dobro pivo pri Ščurku, Ljubljana)

Det här var nog roligare i teorin än i praktiken. Skyhöga förväntningar som inte uppfylls kan ta död på vilken motivation som helst. Särskilt viljan att dela ut ett högt betyg kan bli lidande. Beviset på det har du i den här flaskan.

Bottle, 0.355l. Clear golden color with large soapy off-white head, good lacing and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of pineapple, pine, citrus, caramel and flowers. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel, follows by toasted malts and resin, mouthfeel is spicy, while finish is heavy bitter with long aftertaste. Medium to full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. I’ve had better double IPA’s so far...

12 Fl Oz bottle. Enjoy by 29/10/2015. Opaque, pale gold colour with a generous, slightly off-white head, which thinned out but left some nice lacing. Floral aroma of grapefruit, pine, earthiness, honey and malt. Low to medium sweetness and similar bitterness. Medium / full body, very noticeable alcohol (boozy but without the burn), smooth, almost oily texture and some gentle bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced and not as bitter as I was expecting, I consider this one to be decent without being exceptional. 7.
