COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

pine lemon and grapefruit strong in the aroma with candyish and deeper malt in the way far back..wow..clear yellow with a pure white head with much lacing..taste is major..possibly the strongest pine hops ive ever tasted with a none too shabby blend of pure grapefruit, lemon, and even a minty yeast..malt purely for background but there..palate medium bodied fairly dry finish with long aftertaste,,overall this is a major ipa these are really strong hop flavors that are perfectly balanced to compliment each other at about 8-9 bucks for a four pack which will be plenty for one session

Throw in from a trade. Despite having this available to me, had never tried it so I was happy to have one tossed in. Pour is golden and hazy with white head and nice lacing. Smell is sweet malt, floral, citrus, pine. Taste bursting with floral, citrus fruit, grapefruit in particular, pine, resin. Has a bit of stickiness to it and the perfect amount of sweetness, followed by a bitter end. I’m ery happy I got to try this and will be sure to pick some up in the future.

At harvest grill. Clear golden no head. Malt hop aroma. This is a gentle beer given its alcohol. It’ll sneak up on you.

Bottle. Clear golden orange pour, with a white head. Nice hop aroma, citrus, light tropical fruit, grapefruit, and pine. Flavors of citrusy hops, pine, some caramel, bread, and a bit watery. It’s good, but somewhat of a disappointment.

I'm a little surprised by the cloudyness, and I'm definitely surprised by the floral hops. And I like it.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, tiny bubbled white head, with extensive lacing over a hazy, gold (SRM 5) body......nose is light cereal, hints of sweet malts, hops add floral tones, citrus peel (grapefruit), resin, pine, minimal esters.....taste is sweet malts, with hints of floral honey, light citrus fruit, grapefruit peel, resin, pine, with moderate finishing bitterness, sweet throughout....mouth feel, medium body, slight stickiness, alcohol warmth present, minimal acid and astringency, carbonation adds light tingle. This is obviously an American I/DIPA with the dominant American hop tones over riding the lighter malts. This is a beer for those who like the nuances of the lupulin kingdom. BJCP 9/3/16/5/8

Golden. Aroma is fruity. Taste is very smooth fruit and hops. Bit of a sweet syrupy vibe. Strong bitterness on finish but balanced with sweetness. Too sweet and resinous for me. Decent dipa but not my favoured exponent of the style - much too sweet for me.
