COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

pine lemon and grapefruit strong in the aroma with candyish and deeper malt in the way far back..wow..clear yellow with a pure white head with much lacing..taste is major..possibly the strongest pine hops ive ever tasted with a none too shabby blend of pure grapefruit, lemon, and even a minty yeast..malt purely for background but there..palate medium bodied fairly dry finish with long aftertaste,,overall this is a major ipa these are really strong hop flavors that are perfectly balanced to compliment each other at about 8-9 bucks for a four pack which will be plenty for one session

355ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy deep straw, with a white head. Hoppy, resiny, spicy aroma, loads of tropic fruit, spruce, grapefruit peel, hints of sweat and cat’s pee (in a positive sense...), gooseberry, apricot. Off-dry, medium bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Hoppy, resiny taste, apricot, spruce, light caramel, grapefruit peel, malt, citrus, grass, lemon. Very well balanced, quite complex, convincing hop profile, ridiculously drinkable. (2014-09-14)

Au nez, ça sent le thé et la poussière. C'est aussi herbacé. En bouche, c'est bien amère et assez corsé avec un goût de malt. La finale est sèche et amère. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 bottle. Very hazy golden orange. Lots of particulates. Aroma is dank and musty with orange marmalade and grass. Taste is malt, some tropical fruit and an intense pine and floral bitterness. Abrasive on the tongue. Full and thick mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draught at PHL airport. Holy crap this is good! Massive herb, funk, dank fruit aroma. Clear and pale gold with white head and lacing. Taste follows aroma and is massively good!

Pours a cloudy orange-amber color, with a froth, decent head, collapsing to a thin film. Fantastic hop-fruitiness, foremost defined by orange and lime, over a buttery toffee background. Aromas also contain a good amount of pine and fresh cut grass with hints of tropical papaya. Bitter citrus hops explode on the palate with grass and metallic carbonation even enhancing its crisp impression, while ample bready, slightly toffeeish malts carefully balance the brew. The hop complexity is suberb, great interplay between tropical, refreshing orange and papaya, with an enjoyable herbal support, while sour citrus and onion sting the palate, leading to piney, wooden malt notes. Long, sticky citrus finish with an unexpected piney quality shining through.

A complex body of subtle caramel malt expands into fresh citrusy flavors of grapefruit and orange peel. Creamy mouthfeel with a strong hop backbone that exposes a bit of peppery heat through the long, balanced finish.
