COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Decent DIPA, not really my style, very hoppy and bitter, but doesn’t have much else in the way of flavor or complexity, felt a little empty on the back end to me...still worth a shot.

12 oz bottle. Translucent gold color with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is very floral with sweet citrus and a light woody note. Tastes of bitter apple, mango, white cracker, juicy fruit gum. Juicy...herby, grassy hops. Finish is somewhat astringent, fairly light bodied.

This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a strong bubbly carbonation transparent weak yellow orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of mild wheat dough and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

A perfectly balanced dipa. There is a nice malt sweetness that is balaced well by the hops. Aroma of tropical fruits. Taste follows with a lingering bitterness that is not at all overpowering. It is more juicy than dry, and is my favorite dipa for sure

Love this beer and it's one of my go-to DIPA's. Not superfresh here so a little bit lower rating than usual.

I really enjoy a beer that sits me down but brings a great personality to the evening. DirtWolf carries great nuances of intention while giving me enough ABV to only need one after work. Good craft all around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden color with white head. Aroma has lots of dank, herbal, grassy hops. Taste follows with the dank hops, slightly fruity and sweet at first but gets quite bitter with intense grapefruit notes on the finish. Body is medium with soft carbonation. Alcohol is hidden pretty well. Really good double IPA, one of the best from the more accessible ones.

Retrospective review based on prior tasting. Bottles at home. Pours an effervescent pale amber colour. Head about a finger width, dissipates quickly. Strong fruity/citrusaroma. Tastes bitter, but with strong orange, peach, grapefruit and other citrus flavours. There is a minty/piney overtone. Goes down easy, you wouldn’t know it was 8.7%. I consider this one of my go to Dipa.

A 12 fl oz bottle with an enjoy by date of 26th January 2016, poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It poured a slightly hazy golden straw colour with a one finger white head that dissipated quickly leaving some nice lacing. Very nice tropical and citrus aromas with mango, pineapple and grapefruit taking centre stage. Some light pine and citrus peel in the background. Taste is grapefruit, orange and pine but the lasting taste is a sweet candy orange with some light bitterness. Medium bodied with mid to high carbonation. Overall, a very nice Double IPA that I would love to be able to try super fresh. I would definitely buy this one again.

Rated on 12-26-2015 (Bottle with an enjoy by date of 25NOV2015) The appearance is a medium sized fizzy white head that is mostly lasting, lightly hazy yellow golden body, lively, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is citrus and some pine hops, grapefruit, tropical fruits, earthy, and pale malt. The flavor is moderately bitter, citrus and some pine hops, grapefruit, tropical fruits, earthy, and light spice. The mouthfeel of this beer is moderate carbonation and this is a medium bodied beer. This is a very quaffable beer with a very good hop flavor. It is not overly hoppy tasting and it is worth. This is definitely a beer that I would partake in again.
