COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Light golden color with minimal head. Aroma is big with American hops- tons of citrus and earthy tones. Taste is very well balanced with up front bitterness and refreshing essence of citrus. Finish is clean considering DIPA and ABV.

About as interesting and flavoursome as you’d expect an 8%+ DIPA to be. Nice complexity, given it’s practically all hop flavours.

Pours a hazy yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, citrus, pine, biscuit and hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a dry bitter hop finish. Excellent.

Technically a very well crafted beer. Nicely balanced with big hop flavour. Hop profile has a gooseberry, strawberry, melon, floral thing going on that tastes a bit perfumey and like something that the human body should not consume. I personally find it a bit sickly due to these sublte hints of womens perfume.

Pours gold with 1.5-inch, medium-fine white head. Aroma is floral, pine with a bit of sweet orange. Delicious. Body is medium-light. Flavor is bitter and sappy with a bit of floral, citrus notes, but overshadows by strong bitterness. Medium carbonation with little burn. Overall, an enjoyable IPA, but I wish it tasted as great as it smelled.

Bottle. Hazy amber pour with thick white head. Aroma has lots of peach. A kick of tropical fruits. Taste is lovely balanced with subtile complexity. Very nice composition.

Stone fruit, melon hoppiness on the nose but definitely a pronounced malt presence. Crisp gold body, sustained head to and fizz to keep er alive. Hops come out dirty and in force. One of the best palates an IIPA could have, smoother than a baby’s bottom. Absolutely fantastic, could drink everyday.

12oz. bottle. Hugely citric, fruity hop aroma, sweet and floral, with notes of resin, pine, tropical fruit, peppery spice and a very faint tinge of malt far off in the background, primarily just a sock of hops right in the nose, though. Clear medium golden in color with a fine, lasting white head and very fine matching lace. Flavor profile is quite hoppy throughout as well, with tons of pungent bitterness, pine and fruity, juicy, leafy and resinous tones, however there are glimpses of just enough malt sweetness and honeyish, light caramel to keep things in check, finishing quite dry and with more than a trace of warmth. Fine but persistent effervescence matched with a slick, resinous feel and a fairly large body, yet the utter hoppiness of it all makes it so clean and easy to drink. This is a really nice DIPA.

Resin, goosebeery, and caramel aroma. Similar taste, with added spiciness and fruitiness. Alcohol taste comes through. Quite bitter aftertaste. A dire wolf brew.

Pale yellow, medium head and high carbonation. Peach and melon aroma. Taste of pine and fruit. Lasting bitterness, hiding alcohol well.
