Wildly assertive, intentionally untamed and dangerously satisfying, DirtWolf Double IPA is the culmination of Victory’s double IPA series experiment with whole flower American-grown hops. With two-row German malts and a well-balanced combination of whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this 8.7% abv brew blends the powerful citrus aroma and fruity flavors, with the piney, earthy and mildly floral characteristics found in these intriguing hop varieties. Replacing Victory’s Hop Wallop® Ale, which will take a hiatus from the market for the time being, DirtWolf Double IPA will launch the brewery’s entry into four-packs when it begins to hit markets in October". “So a wolf and a prospector walked into a bar…,” joked President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “No, in all seriousness, Hop Wallop will be missed, but isn’t necessarily gone forever. We developed that brand 10 years ago as our flavorful response to the hop-bomb vogue of the time. But as brewers who enjoy experimenting with beer styles and ingredient varieties, we looked for the opportunity to do other interesting recipes as time passed. Making the decision to put Hop Wallop aside for a few years allows us to bring this delicious new double IPA, DirtWolf, to the market in bottles.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century. DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ’wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our dangerously satisfying DirtWolf. Cheers, Bill, Ron, The Brewmasters of Victory.

Draft in Lancaster. New standard for double IPA. Hoppy, nice unfiltered haze, with a wonderful flavor. the 8.7 alcohol is completely hidden by the hops. Not bitter, just a perfect citrus aroma and taste. lighter than hop wallop, a good thing. one of the best beers i have had in my 40 years of drinking beers. Perfection attained.

Appearance- semi cloudy/hazy, honey gold hue. Decent foamy bone white head that dissipates evenly and leaves good lacing. Smell- it’s got that "cat pee" thing going on. Obvious welcome overwhelming piney, resiny nose. Taste- hop hop hoppy! Perfect level of bitterness. Pine upfront that lasts throughout with a little bit of a sweet honey center. Mouthfeel- so smooth! Big (but not too big), full flavored. Goes down easy for a DIPA (could get in trouble with this one if not keeping count). Overall- excellent! Outstanding! There’s a lot going on in this beer, without too much going on (you know what I mean). Get it! Enjoy it! Cheers all!

My absolute favorite beer. Golden, full of pungent piney citrus dank hops, taste is dominated by tropical fruits, grassy funk and a snap of bitter. Finished clean and heady. A perfect DIPA.

Difficult to describe the appeal of the leaf-litter type of flavor and aroma of this fantastically great-tasting beer! Reminiscent of a handful of loose, dark, composting leaf dirt from the woods. Only downside is the high alcohol & price tag.

The aroma and taste are heady peppery hops with hints of pine resin. The malts and ABV nicely balance with the big bitterness. Almost too easy to drink.

Bright fruity, hop heavy, bronze pour. A great IPA, reminiscent of a West Coast style.

Scored a case for 42.50$ Popped a bottle and poured it into a pint glass. It yielded a 2 cm creamy head that was bursting with pungent hops. The taste was wildly hoppy with notes of bitter pine clashed with pineapple and with an almost indescribably glorious dank finish. It was smooth drinking and I hardly noticed the 8.7% abv.
