4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured hazy yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma of citrus, melon, and resin. Really inviting aroma. Big tropical citrus hop profile flavor. Really delicious. Palate was a little thin but no alcohol. Good bye Hop Wallop.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Moderate roasted and grain for the malt, heavy pine and grapefruit peel for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with hints of pepper and guava. Head is large, frothy, white with good slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy light amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then the long finish is lightly to moderately acidic and heavily bitter. palate is medium, oily with a lively carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Huge bitter hop presence in this DIPA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy, golden orange, so-so head with so-so retention, not much lacing. Nose is über dank, tropical fruit meets cat piss, some floral notes (can’t wait to taste it!). Mouth is medium bodied, semi sweet, big guava/passion fruit/mango barrage, some grass, candied lemon peel, hint of malt (mainly accompanying the sweetness up front). Not really balanced, but certainly a hopinista’s brew (I’ve got no problems with that!). Drink this and howl like a wolf into the frigid Midwestern December night.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: October 22, ’13.
A: Tropical fruit, orange, mango, and hops. Really floral and fresh.
A: Pours a slight cloudy golden orange color, with a nice one finger off white head at the top, leaves a pretty good amount of lacing around the glass.
T: Initially an earthy hops bitterness followed by a mild caramel and citrus sweetness. The malt character is hearty but there isn’t much balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy.
P: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A decent 2IPA but there are several others in the style that I would pick first.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wowe. What a neate brew. Bottle poured into a nonic pint. Nice pale gold pour with a thick white head. Fruity, juicy, bubblegum aroma. Taste is creamy, juicy, tropical fruits, a nice sweet bubblegum, citrus. Smooth mouthfeel with a pleasant bitter bite. No alcohol burn, just juicy fruit, a bit of dryness. Real good.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice medium gold color. Mildly hazy. The head is small to medium and just a bit off white. Good retention, a bit of lacing. The aroma is sugary lemons, white grape juice, honeysuckle, grapefruit, peach, peppercorn, pineapple and pine. Lots of bright hops. Nice and juicy. Not much malt to be found, except a little sweetness in the background. The taste is similar. Lots of hops, sweet and full of flavor. Citrus, stone fruit, some pine and a bit of tropical fruit. Mildly dry. Mouthfeel is relatively light, smooth, carbonation is a bit lower than normal. Very good DIPA and a surprising flavor to come out of Victory. It’s much closer to an Alpine DIPA than anything that I’d expect from them. Excellent work.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2013 Pours an orange hazy color. With a normal amount of head. Aroma is of peach, tangerine, tropical fruits, bready malts. And a resin dank nose. Tastes of more fruit and citrus. Again, a resiny type dankness. The alcohol is hidden well. Overall, it is a great double IPA, there is just A LOT going on in this beer !

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
4 pack best by Feb 12, 2014 from Wallaby’s. man. This is a fantastic IIPA. The pour is a beautiful bright orange with a tall white head and sticky lacing. Tons of hops in the aroma covering everything from pine to all kinds of citrus to herbs and flowers with just a hint of ammonia. The palate is full and carbonated to perfection. Lots of fresh, deep and complex hops in the flavor as well. It almost stings up front with a clean bitterness then gives way to a juicy citrus and floral bouquet. There are notes of herbs and earth in the mix and the malts are just about perfect in their balance. This particular double IPA is very bold and hoppy as one would hope from the style, but also insanely drinkable and "balanced" considering the style. Throw in some pretty intriguing hop nuances and we have ourselves an absolute winner.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle
This single was the last one at the local Big Red. A nice imperial IPA is on par with other Victory beers and definitely one I would drink again fresh on tap. I hope it stays in rotation with Hop Wallop and not just a one off experiment.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated bubbly foundation retains a chalky white head. The smell is like that of a pair of erasers after cleaning a dirty blackboard. Sweaty oranges, malt, and a muted brightness stick in the air. This was not nearly as aggressive as I was expecting.
Flavor / Palate - The warmth of the hops are immediate. Citrus and malts carry the flavors towards a well balanced finish. Like a boozy cinnamon roll it fills the mouth with textures. Grounded and earthy it may not quite be on par with Hop Wallop but it is not far off the mark.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Enjoy by: 03/01/14. A slightly hazy pale copper pour with a thick beige head. Oranges, grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, pine, and caramel feature prominently in the aroma. Some peaches, apricots, an herbaceousness, and a hint of a dusty funk are noticeable here and there. Goes down fairly medium-bodied. Caramel and sweet cereal grains start things off taste-wise. A hint of bubblegum. A bready middle. Grapefruits, tangy oranges, and zesty citrus rinds at the end. Slightly spicy. A dry finish that lingers quite a bit. A touch of warming alcohol throughout. Good, but just a bit overrated.
