Cask pint at Zeno’s Real Ale Fest. Thin tan head on a cola colored dark brown body. Thin coffee and burnt/char aromas, with heavy notes of old, soggy coffee in the nose. Texture is very weak and thin by cask beer standards, with heavily astringent coffee and chocolate and char, with more of that old, stale coffee ground note. Finishes thin, weak and wet. This is really a terrible beer to offer on cask, and it didn’t sit well in my stomach at all.

Taster on tap at Twenty Tap. Black color. Thin khaki head, with good retention. Thicker lace. Good milk chocolate, lightly roasty, lightly dark fruity nose... Classic, clean irish stout aroma. Maybe a bit more earthy hop bitterness, than say, a Guinness. I like it, though. Lighter body. Smooth, kind of creamy, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. A solid dry irish stout. I let robotopera have the last 1/3 of my taster. He called it "overwhelmingly mild. Like there’s nothing there; like it’s cut." I guess he’s not used to dry irish stouts.

On nitro tap. Pours with a near black body with a nice looking creamy to milky, tan nitro head. Aromas are bready, smokey, roasty with hints of coffee. Light floral hops. Flavors are watery, tobacco, nuts, tea, coffee grounds and leather. Somewhat more assertive mouthfeel than some nitro taps but still feels a bit watery.

Tap at Trappeze, Athens GA
Pours dark brown with thick mocha like nitro head
Aroma was rather weak and watery with some malts for a charcoal nose.
Taste, light, some roasted malts and thin touch of coffee with undertones of mocha with a lactose like palate.
Overall mouthfeel was fluffy and silky/creamy with good nitro presence. Victory’s version of Guinness? dry finish, simple, light, too watery for my taste but very drinkable.
