2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dogbrick (6048) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Sample at World Of Beer. Pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted and a bit of chocolate. Light body with a sweet roast character and notes of chocolate malt and grain. The finish is short with a malt aftertaste. Pretty forgettable beer all in all.

Pitch black ale served on nitro and looking just like it. It offers a rather clean, roasted aroma with the quite typical gazy dark chocolate tones more than coffee. Dry on the palate. Medium bodied and creamy textured. I don’t know what to think, rather weak-flavoured, but muted from the nitro obviously.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (5659) - Riverslime, California, USA - JUL 8, 2009
On tap at Bilbo Baggins in Alexandria, VA. Pours a deep ruby with a one finger tan nitro head. Aroma is light and subdued but roasty, cocoa. Taste is light to medium bodied with cocoa, malted milk balls, and some chocolate covered strawberries. Sweet, refreshing flavor rather than heavy roasted, typical stouts flavors. Clean finish. Lackluster but enjoyable.

Draught - at Cole’s. Near black pour, solid lasting creamy nitro head. Dry, slightly lactic aroma - mild, with cocoa and light peat or even a hint of smoke. Can really taste the nitro effect, but I will try not to hold that against it - it’s dry, herbal, deeply roasty, nice soft graininess - hardly any alcohol presence at all, very smooth. Creamy, mildly carbonated, ever so slightly acidic, with a quick, dry finish ---- easy to drink, more or less sessionable - not bad.

On tap at the Blind Tiger’s Victory event. Pours a deep mahogany black with a large beige head. Roast, toast, chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Medium bodied, lots of chocolate and a bit sweet. Caramel and vanilla, nice sweetness. Smooth, chocolate, caramel, roast and coffee on the finish.

Nitro. Pours brune body with a tan head. Dry roasted malt, some light chocolate, very thin and session-able, a craft brewers spin on a common macro stout with more flavor despite the lower abv. Clean soft, with a creamy body courtesy of the nitro.

Tap at Trappeze, Athens GA
Pours dark brown with thick mocha like nitro head
Aroma was rather weak and watery with some malts for a charcoal nose.
Taste, light, some roasted malts and thin touch of coffee with undertones of mocha with a lactose like palate.
Overall mouthfeel was fluffy and silky/creamy with good nitro presence. Victory’s version of Guinness? dry finish, simple, light, too watery for my taste but very drinkable.

Draught @ The Distillery, Savannah. Rich black with thick tan head. Abundant coffee, asphalt and coffee aromas. Finishes thin with slight acidity. Unripe and does not deliver on the aroma or appearance. Thin and underdeveloped.
