COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The tastiest dark brew since the rollicking days of the infamous Donnybrook Fair, Donnybrook Stout offers unparalleled refreshment for an ale so deep in flavor and intrigue. Fresh, whole flower British and Slovenian hops provide the proper, earthy hint of 'the auld sod' while deep roasted barley and low alcohol keep Donnybrook Stout clean, smooth and flavorful. Served on mixture of 75% nitro and 25% CO2.

Draught - at Coleís. Near black pour, solid lasting creamy nitro head. Dry, slightly lactic aroma - mild, with cocoa and light peat or even a hint of smoke. Can really taste the nitro effect, but I will try not to hold that against it - itís dry, herbal, deeply roasty, nice soft graininess - hardly any alcohol presence at all, very smooth. Creamy, mildly carbonated, ever so slightly acidic, with a quick, dry finish ---- easy to drink, more or less sessionable - not bad.

On tap in a pint glass. On nitro. The aroma is hay, tannins, husks, grain, and not much. The flavor is extremely watery with meat, smoke, and not much else.

Draught at Coles, Buffalo, NY. Looks great! Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size lasting creamy tan head. Nice lacing. Mild aroma (but served quite cold) of dry roasted malt, coffee and light chocolate. Dry flavour of roasted malt and roasted coffee along with a hint of chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. A simple yet solid Stout, easy to drink -- I quite enjoyed it.

Taster on tap at Twenty Tap. Black color. Thin khaki head, with good retention. Thicker lace. Good milk chocolate, lightly roasty, lightly dark fruity nose... Classic, clean irish stout aroma. Maybe a bit more earthy hop bitterness, than say, a Guinness. I like it, though. Lighter body. Smooth, kind of creamy, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. A solid dry irish stout. I let robotopera have the last 1/3 of my taster. He called it "overwhelmingly mild. Like thereís nothing there; like itís cut." I guess heís not used to dry irish stouts.

Draft at Blind Tiger. Pours near black with a creamy nitro head. Light roasty aroma with a hint of chocolate. Roasted malty flavor, light chocolate with an earthy hint. Slight acidity. Pretty true to the dry stout style.

Draft pint at the brewpub. Exceptional cascade of a head on this nitro pour. The firm white head clings heartily as it recedes. Very light roasty aroma. Likewise in flavor, this is a restrained example ... lightly roasty, a hint of coffee-laced bitterness. Quite drinkable. (#3194, 11/10/2007)

Draft on tap at the Binnys SL Taproom (Chicago, IL). Pours a well blackened pour, near opaque, some ruby edges, with a frothy nitro head, tannish light pour laces well. Aromas are some decent roasty malts, touches of floral hops, some soda bread, toast and bread. A decent roast for such a light stout. Initial is lighter bodied, mellow with light roast, toast, dry soda bread, some mellow floral hops, bitterness and creaminess from the nitro clash well. This goes down way too easy. Light and airy, nothing overbearing with toasted oats, roasted malts, a faint touch of coffee. Some creaminess, faint cocoa, light dry roasty slightly bitter finish. A lighter stout, not complex but balanced and easily quaffed. Sadly, didnít try this till the middle of April.. Till the next year. For a beer that is .5% ABV less than a Macro Light lager, this is nice.
