Commercial Description:
Calm character and deep flavors... A Northern England version of dark ale, you will marvel at the depth of cocoa and chocolate flavors that lie under the smooth and calm character of this contemplative ale. Yeast from a venerable British brewer lends just the right amount of plum-flavored fruit edge to this cask-conditioned ale.
Malts: imported German and British malts
Hops: two varieties of British whole flowers

On the hand pump at Ortinos Northside. Pours a translucent brownish amber with a creamy light tan head that laced and sustained. Aroma was toasty/nutty with hints of hops and grains. Flavor was nice and smooth toasty/nutty, cereal, light hop bitterness, hints of caramel and chocolate.

Cask at Capital Ale House. Deep reddish brown. Aroma was a bit of caramel and some cocoa. Flavor matched, with a sublte hop bitterness at the end. Not bad. Sort of like a pumped up Newcastle.

Poured a hazy brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of nuts, caramel malts, and cocoa. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, with light citrus, and mildly bitter, hop finish. Fully attentuated.

Cask at Capital Alehouse. Red body, medium frothy tan head. Molasses, malt aroma. Tastes like tobacco, disgusting. Palate extremely watery. Bad cask?
