COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To celebrate the sweet victory of turning 16, Victory Brewing Company has created a chocolate beer. Éclat Cocoa Lager is a beer created in collaboration with West Chester, Pa.-based Éclat Chocolate. The dark lager is brewed using the world’s rarest cacao bean, Peruvian Pure Nacional, which offers just a touch of perceived sweetness to the beer. “Working with Éclat was an obvious choice for us for our birthday beer,” said Ron Barchet, CEO and co-Brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company. “Their dedication to the finest ingredients and flavors mirrors our own.”

Tap at Victory. Looks like it's on nitro or cask. Thick buttermilk head with perfect sheets of creamy nitro lace. SRM is deep amber to light brown. Clear. Big carbonation. Nose is muted Irish dry stout notes of raisins and roasted malt with nice cocoa powder. Smells like a good batch of Guinness. Taste is tangy, light, pretty much Irish dry stout with decent roast and light body. Nice. Pretty fun to try. Mild earthy maltiness doesn't work in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the Boilermaker, Philly - 24/05/12. Light brown pour with a creamy off white-head. Great chocolate nose with hops in the background. Sweet tasting, cocoa at the fore, a little malt, not much bitterness. Light end of medium bodied creamy and easy drinking. Something a little different and they pulled it off well!

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head...retention and lacing is very poor. Aroma has light roasty maltiness and faint cocoa...subdued. flavor has lots of dark chocolate but not sweet or bitter...balanced with nice roastiness. Mouthfeel is medium...slightly lifeless...with a roasty dark chocolate finish that dries out and lingers.
