3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Dutch’s. Mostly clear red orange amber color. Thin off-white head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Interesting, the first time I tasted this (1st pour from the keg) I was very turned off. I thought it was close to awful... Very metallic, old-tasting. But now, 2/3 through the keg, a few days later, now that I’m really sitting down to rate it with a 10oz pour and notes, this is tasting significantly better for some reason. Drinking much more rich and robust. It totally got better (or maybe I just need a beer at the moment). Good light caramel malt, dark fruit notes, some nice earthy hop. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Lightly spicy. surprisingly solid heller bock. Wasn’t expecting to enjoy it this much, especially after my initial taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet bready malts, mild fruity character, light earthy bitterness. Pretty basic flavor profile nice for the tick, but I wouldn’t revisit this.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 Growler into an ale glass. Pour is a honey amber with a tan head. Aroma is a fine yet rich malt with hints of nut. Taste is a nice warm yet crisp malt and caramel. Finish is clean, very well made ale.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Transparent amber, spotty white cap with large bubbled white ring. Spicy funk notes, bit orange. Lots of caramel through the sweet, tempered end, mild-like despite the sweetness.
