DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 9, 2008 (Bottle). Malty aroma. Orange-copper body, white head. Spicy malt flavor, caramel, moderately sweet. Lengthy malt finish. chrisafari (100), Orange, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 On tap at Stone brewing World Bistro and Gardens.
Aroma: roasty toasty malt with a nice balanced hoppiness in the background. Pours clear amber/copper brown with nice semi-full off-white head. Flavor begins smooth and malty. Malt is fresh roasted and rich. Finishes with a nice flavor of almost fresh cut grass. Carbonation is nice and enjoyable, light to medium body. Drinkability is medium to high, One of the best Octoberfests out there. Really a good time of the year for this excellent beer! RSRIZZO (1346), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 8, 2008 Aroma is a light malty scent. Color is a bright clear amber with good carbonation and a thin head. Taste is malty and rich. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a rich feel. Finish is a dry malt flavor. Not my favorite from Victory. jeckenroth (81), Charlestown, Massachusetts, USA Oct 6, 2008 Poured a very clear orangish-copper with a very small and short lived head.
The nose was like most Octoberfests with heavy carmel and malt tones. Not overly hoppy.
The palate was thinner than most of this style. Water and somewhat refreshing. I typically like the think malty blanket of an Octoberfest so this wasn’t a quality I enjoyed. The lively carbonation on the other hand was quite nice.
The sweet carmel taste lasted through the whole sip and the finish was strong malt that faded quickly behind the carbonation.
Solid implementation of the style, but not the best from this brewer. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 Draft @ Capones: Poured a copper orange with a thin head. The aroma is malty and nutty. The flavor was smooth, malty and just the right amount of hops. Overall, a tasty fest beer. doboy (175), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Oct 5, 2008 Copper in color, with a nice head. Malty aroma that is tempting!
Thought the mouthfeel was good, with a nice malty flavor that is tinged with hops. Nice bittering. RunningBeerGuy (7), New York, USA does not count Oct 4, 2008 Orange, amber looking but thin drinkin’. It’s a nice full mouth feel even though it’s thin. Not quite as good as Blue Point’s Oktoberfest pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 4, 2008 Pours a solid orangy amber hue with a decent creamy white even head. The nose is grainier and slightly sweet with a good dose of spicy hops. A bit creamy, perhaps lacking some richness that is often characteristic of the style. Maybe a bit toasty. The mouthfeel is full and creamy without being too carbonated. The flavor is in line with the nose. Not too rich or creamy as the style can be, more drinkable. Spicy hops. A good dose of dark malt character that doesn’t just stop at toasty and caramel, it edges up to the brink of chocolate. Not a bad beer, even if it’s not to style, I don’t see why it’s rated so lowly!
