JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 4, 2008 On tap at Paradiso, Georgetown. Quite a nice looking beer, that glowing orange one expects from the style. Moderate head, little retention. The nose is crisp, hoppy, fruity, and very appealing. Slighty grainy flavor, though, and a mouthfeel that’s a bit on the thin side. Decent. thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours deep amber into a shaker. Bright white micro head recedes at a medium pace to hug rim. Caramel and candy corn aromas. Soft with caramel from front to back. Lasting malt finish. A great Oktoberfest session beer. Next. anthlovesbeer (67), north grafton, Massachusetts, USA Sep 30, 2008 This would make a great session beer. Very smooth drinkability, enjoyable with an overall smooth mouthfeel. The use of true German hops makes this beer a nice choice for Octoberfest celebrations. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2008 12 oz. bottle on 09/29/2008. Clear amber pour, medium off white head, decent lace. Caramel and floral hops in the aroma. Rich malty sweetness starts off, soft bitterness provides a welcome balance. Medium body and carbonation, sight syrupy character initially, but finishes fairly clean. Smooth, easy drinking. Good example of a tradtional Marzen. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Sep 29, 2008 12oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours amber with a one finger thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus and sweet malts. Flavor is bitter upfront, citrusy, sweet, malty, with a mellow finish. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 on tap at Faegans. Good solid easy drinking fairly tasty beer. Some bready malt with a dry aftertaste. Good brew Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Sep 27, 2008 pours a nice amber colour with a thin off white head.
Aroma is caramel and toasty malt. Perhaps hints of a light floral-spicy hop.
Flavour is very soft maltiness.
Toasted biscuity malt. Tangy malt finish.
Slight grassy hop presence vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours copper / orange with a large rocky khaki head. The aroma has lots of sweet caramel malt, toffee and biscuits. Medium / fully body with quite a bit of semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with caramel malt, some sweetness, but not as much as most marzens, some spice and cracker. The finish shows a bit of spicy hops and is a bit drier. Good for the style.
