Exemplar of the style and a credit to the brewers. I poured a 12 oz bottle into a shaker. This caramel-colored beer gave off a lively bready aroma, and flavors followed suit, with dough, yeast, caramel, vanilla, and the merest whiff of grass. I’m not a fan of Oktoberfests, but this is definitely a good session beer and the perfect addition to an afternoon of football here in the American South.

Bottle. Pours a nice copper color with hardly any head. Nice malty aroma. Strong malty taste. Light and dry. Kind of watered down, but not too bad.

Pours an orange amber color with soapy white head. Aroma of caramel, candi sugar, and toffee. Sweet caramel taste with a light bitterness and sweet sugary finish. So dough mixed in. I am not a big fan of Marzens. They tend to be bland and watery. This one has a nice bold flavor and thicker mouthfeel. I am enjoying it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 dumontn (423) - CHICAGO, Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2011
Pours razor-clear amber with thin head, ok retention. Aroma is very cereally toasted malt and nuts; smells like a fresh mash if you’ve ever experienced one; perhaps a bit heavy on the crystal malt, though. Taste is bready and nutty with a mild spicy noble hop finish. Body is medium, average carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, dry-ish finish. Overall, a delightful oktoberfest that tastes very fresh.
4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 beerlover82 (177) - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 18, 2011
Having had nothing but pumpkin ales for the last two weeks, I tired of that and decided to get back to the fall classic: Oktoberfest-Marzen. For good lager-type brew, can’t do better. Saw this in the store and picked it up, as I love Victory Brewing and surprisingly haven’t had it yet.
Here goes:
Pours a beautiful shiny orange/copper-amber with a solid thick and bubbly white head. Nice retention. Thin lacing that sticks for a reasonable while.
Aromatic notes of sweetness, caramel-like barley, bread and dryness.
Toasted barley, and sweetness all around wave on the tongue, followed by a slight hint of faint hop twang, and finishes nice and dry. Medium body, with very minimal carbonation, allowing the barley sweetness and other characteristics to come through easily.
I really like this one. As good as any authentic made-in-Germany Marzen. And a lot better than some.
Victory scores another home-run with this one, but then again, when do they not?
Four Stars(out of four)

On tap at Bierkraft, Brooklyn, NY. A dark amber coloured pour with a small off white head on top. Sweet, malty aroma. Tastes sweet, malty, caramel. It’s not bad.

Bottle. A slightly dark amber pour. The aroma of this beer was familiar, but I could not quite name what I was smelling, so I looked at some previous ratings. When I saw someone mentioned the aroma as being stale tobacco, I immediately recognized what I was smelling. To me the aroma is pure stale tobacco. The flavor is the same tobacco, with a little hop bitterness and some sour flavor. Body is medium. Carbonation is medium.
