jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2007 This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again. adam7679 (6), Ringgold, Georgia, USA does not count Sep 27, 2007 I was very excited to try this. I like most Victory beers. I was very disappointed in this one. The beer is very light almost effervescent and drinkable almost like a red ale with a bit of spices added. It is not as heavy or flavorful as I would expect in an Oktoberfest. Pours a clear amber with some bronze-brown, an off-white head,
aroma of malt, toasted malt and some malt sweetness in the background,
same taste as aroma, the sweetness subsides quickly with some hop bitterness,
easy to drink just not as flavorful as some other Octoberfest beers,
more of a middle of the road Octoberfest. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Sep 25, 2007 12 Oz Bottle. Light ester and grain bed aroma. Hay and haybarn. Mossy, slightly salty. Clear middle amber orange, soaped rim of beige. Flavor is a minimalist approach the already plain Oktoberfest. Here even the Munich malt plays quietly in the corner. Water is forefront. Light sugars, malt cream, and lightly wheaty fruits bounce around an empty room. No chewiness, no depth, no crisp hop balance. Nothing to get excited about. Backs out the door with honey and herbs. Clean...blah, blah, blah...boring. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2007 07 bottle. pours copper with white head. nose has lots of toasted biscuit. flavor has lot of toasted biscuit w/ nice subtle caramel adding some sweetness. decent hop flavor too. really smooth and drinkable. finish is clean and smooth. it’s been a long time since i’ve enjoyed a victory beer this much. Slipstream (734), USA Sep 24, 2007 On tap - crisp and hoppy, fresh but not light. It has a good body - taste of rye and light hops. McGarnigle (303), Rochester, New York, USA Sep 23, 2007 Bottle. Somewhat dry Octoberfest beer. A bit of caramel and biscuit, plus a kiss of hops. Tasty. Somewhat disappointing is the palate, which is isn’t full enough and perhaps a bit over-fizzed. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Sep 22, 2007 Bottle. This is probably my most favorite Oktoberfest beer this season. It is not overpowering, and relatively balanced. The malts aren’t too overpowering, and the hop balance is just about right. Very nice subtle bitter finish.
