fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA May 17, 2006 12 oz bottle thanks to pineypower. Poured golden amber with a smallish head that faded to nothing. Aromas were very faint. Some maltiness but not much. Flavors were better with all that classic oktoberfest malts coming through. Hops were faint and left me with malt in the aftertaste after the hop bite faded. Not my favorite. Takes a lot to impress me in this style
JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA May 1, 2006 light copper color with tiny off white head. Aroma has fair amount of lightly kilned malts (munich), slightly estery, fair amount of caramel and touch of raisens. Favor is malty, slightly chewy, obvious caramel. Finish is rather dry with a faint metallic hint. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 25, 2006 Updated: Apr 26, 2006Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours amber with a goodoff-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus and sweet malts. Flavor is bitter upfront, citrusy, sweet, malty, with a smooth finish. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 24, 2006 Pours amber with a one finget thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus and sweet malts. Flavor is bitter upfront, citrusy, sweet, malty, with a mellow finish. Decent body, not a bad brew, but easily forgetable. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 23, 2006 Amber body with a small, off-white head. The aroma is grass and caramel, flavor is similar with a bit of nuttiness. Finish is semi-sweet. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth. Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 19, 2006 Bottle Pours a hazy red brown with a small off white head. Head has fair lacing but diminshes quickly. Has a decent aroma of grass and grain. Taste has a dull flavor. Good palate and mouthfeel. A touch light on the carbination. Good duration and an okay finish. Has a light aftertaste. This is okay but lacks the big punch I expect from Victory, but its still very drinkable. RooftopRogue (423), Champaign, Illinois, USA Mar 11, 2006 This beer has a mild malty/fruity aroma that is similar to the earthy smell of wet decaying leaves. It is amber in color and pours a thick cream colored head that dissolves quickly leaving only a small trace of lacing. This thin beer produces a weak fruity nutty/ biscuit flavor. It produces a gentle hint of a metallic substance as it lingers. ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 28, 2006 Hazy amber-brown with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel and apples. Sweet malts dominate flavor, with lots of earthiness and caramel, some spiciness. Lots of carbonation, but it’s not overly harsh.
