Had it on tap. Good to have Märzens back again. It’s a sweet, malty example. Very tasty, great fall beer.

Tap at Victory, Downington PA - 25/05/12.
Dark amber with white head.
Sweetish malts at the fore of the nose, backed up by a little hops and straw.
Taste follows nose with a little fruit and a puff of smoke in the mix.
Medium bodied decent representation of the style.

Pours a copper brown clear color with a two finger foamy head. Aromas are honeyed malts with a glimpse of hops. On the palate its alot of the same... big malty graham cracker honey notes with a kiss of bitter hops on the tail end... nice example of a german fest style but could use a touch more on the hops and bubble in my opinion.

Bottle. Pour is lively with carbonation, but that may have just been opening it 2 minutes after lugging it down the block. Color is a perfectly clear deep orangish red color with a fair amount of carbonation bubbles working their way through the beer. Flavor is mild, very soft on the palate with just a hint of caramel and roast. Finishes crisp and clean with that herbal German hop finish. Light bodied. This is a delicious beer for the style, goes down a little too easy. Would drink again.

Yes, this is very easy to drink, but it is also not very memorable. Everything about the beer, with the exception of the color, is middle-of-the-road. The aroma is slightly sweet, the flavor is lacking, and it’s light on the palate. Eh.
