COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seductively smooth, this medium-bodied amber beauty is akin to the great Oktoberfest beers of Munich. All German hops make this lager true to style. Patient cold aging makes it wonderfully smooth. In bottles September through February

Clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma is mainly malt. Tastes quite dry. Nice malt flavor with a touch of hop bitterness. A bit thin bodied but still a solid beer.

Cobra (1100) - Banned City, - SEP 30, 2004
12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. "Enjoy by Dec 31, 04" on front label. Very fresh then. I enjoy fresh beer, especially good, fresh beer. Poured out a reddish, dark copper color with a minimal white, sticky head. It faded back to a sticky lacing down the sides of the glass. Excellent clarity. Aromas are of slightly sulphurous yeasts, malts, nuttiness, slight Tootsie Roll aromas as well. Tastes are of fresh malts, slight nuttiness, some vanilla, yeasty pretzels, and sweet caramel malts as well. Hops are subdued in both aromas and flavors. Just enough bitterness to slightly counteract the sweetness of the malts. Rich mouthfeel, but not too thick. Plenty of chewy malts to satisfy your thirst/hunger. Almost a meal in a glass. One of the best Octoberfests I’ve had this season.

09.27.04 12oz bottle. Standard golden copper marzen color. Rich with thck white head. Malty, bready, etc. Sharp hops hints. Raisin and walnut. Subtlty abounds - leave it to Victory to make a deeper, more complex oktoberfest. Rather light bodied which seems more to style than many stickier marzens, but I prefer them leaning towards alt. Nice stuff.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2006 Copper orange, nice head, caramel aroma. Flavor is sweet, with a bit hint of tea flavors. Vague bitterness on finish. I prefer more expressive Oktoberfests. 9/30/06: Scores were the exact same. This time I noted a bit of hay and grass in the aroma and flavor, and some faint breadiness. Otherwise identical, minus the tea flavors.

Bottle: A deep amber when poured with a quickly dissipating off white head. Very spicy at the nose and malty on the palate. Finishes well with a nice sweet aftertaste that I couldn’t quite figure out. Looking forward to it on tap.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2013 Sampled from a 12 oz bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a small soapy tan head that faded quickly and left a touch of lacing. . The aroma was malty and sweet with a moderate toffee presence and touches of dark fruits and vegetal malts. . The flavor was sweet, tangy and sour with some vegetal malts, toffee, caramel and dark fruits. Med sweet malty toffee finish. Medium body and smooth. Solid.

On tap at Victory. Pours out a slightly red hued amber with a medium sized foamy head. A very smooth beer with a nice malty flavor with a little hop bitterness. Overall this is an awesome Oktoberfest.

Caramel raisin bread (must have bread on the brain rating these), sensuous aroma. Straight up O-fest, a tad too sticky for me but still enjoyable. Hints of vanilla in the finish.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2007 Growler from the brewery. Nice creamy head of off white over a deep amber colored clear body. Nice clean malt aroma. The flavor is proper for the style, malty, little hop presence and a clean finish. Very nice. Re-rate 10/07 Bottle 7/4/7/3/14

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2004 Draft @ brewery. Kind of a dark copper color with a small head. Mild bitter hop aroma and not much else. Taste has a nice malt flavor to it with a touch of bitterness if you reach down for it. A bit thin bodied but ok stuff. The bottle version has a really powerful astringent aroma. taste is much of the same though.
