3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a great copper orange with minimal head. Flavor is smooth up front, an even balance of subtle hops and full bodied malt. Body is smooth as well, making this thoroughly drinkable. Flavorable isn’t overly memorable, but it’s great while it lasts. I’m not a big oktoberfest/marzen fan, but this is nice.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled in a pint glass. A bit bitter, mild hops and malts. Transparent coppery color, thin head. A flavorful and enjoyable drinking beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours to one of the sexiest colors I’ve seen in a beer. It’s a glowing orange sunset. Tall frothy white head. The aroma has a malty spelt pasta thing going on with some corn silage. The flavor is corn silage up front with some nice crisp sweet corn on the finish. Perhaps some maple syrup and ultra toasty malts on the aftertaste. Decent. The palate is medium bodied and easy drinking. Drinkable but nothing really outstanding from the pack. The more I’ve been drinking it, the more it comes off as raw chocolate chip dough in the flavor.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Autumn in a glass, as a lot of these beers of this style are. Body is orange with red and brown, like a bag of leaves. Smell is faint spices, heavy malt. Decent flavor, actually a little heavy for the style. Malt throughout, could use a little dryness. Not a bad beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice brown color with light, malty aroma. Taste is sweet, malty and smooth. Good to average overall, but definately better than most Oktoberfests. These brews make the colder weather a bit more tolerable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2013 11/04/13: re-rate. No mold in the nose this time around, so starting off on a better foot. 7 years since I first rated it and didn’t recall that my first experience was a bad one. Malty nose. Light hazy amber. Thin. Almost fully diminishing head. Undercarbonated. Not bad. Good flavor with a light hop profile. 9/15/06: Clearance barrel at Binny’s, Glen Ellyn,IL. Bottle. Some sweetness in the nose and some mold? No lace, small head that is fully diminishing. I tried to check the "best by" date, but it was in white lettering and was stamped over the white "F" in "Festbier" on the label, so couldn’t read it. Moldy, carboard flavor with some zing. Probably old. Not very good. Disappointing effort by Victory. A brewer with the reputation of Victory can’t afford to put out a lackluster product like this. Malty with no hops. 7, 3, 5, 3, 11

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Couldn’t detect a real distinct aroma. Slightly sweet. Poured a nice rich amber color. Virtually zero head. Was hoping for a little more maltiness or character in the flavor. It was an ok beer but for the price, I could have done better. Victory makes much better brew than this.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle: Pours a deep reddish brown color with a cola like carbonation in its large bubbles that go away as soon as the pour finishes. Aroma is malty caramel, but nothing much like the entire beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2006 Re-rated on tap at the Legend Fest:
Clear light brown body with a thin off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet dark malt and caramel flavor.
Original Rating: Aroma had some cheesy hints, and the flavor was dominated by a powdered cheese flavor, very much like that in a box of mac and cheese. Possibly some sort of infection, but i’ve yet to experience a cheesy infection.
