4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fruity with an emphasis on wheat to balance, both in the aroma and flavor aspects. A bit of pungent dry straw in the nose. I look forward to trying this again to perhaps get a bit more of exotic spice character. Also, more sensuality would be welcome to accompany the fairly strong alcoholic finish.

not to bad. Not as yeasty as other belgium styles ales. Still very good and worth trying.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2004 Sweet taste and intense alcohol that burns down to the day after. Not my thing. [2.2]
Part of the Tripel Taste Test. Conclusion: This is the one with least flavour and character. It manages quite well to make an approximation of a Belgian Tripel, but does fall slightly behind the others on a head to head comparison. Chrissie found this was her favourite - she said it was the most girlie of the beers.

Dayton, OH AleFest:This beer formed a small sized ivory head that contained fine sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was clear with some fizzy carbonation and the hue was yellow. The nose was lightly malty, light hops, fruity, sweet and some clove detected. The flavor was acidic and bitter tasting along with a smooth, tingly, and light-medium bodied palate.

After drinking a Laotian beer - this tasted like heaven. Nice thick murky dark golden pour with a thin white head. Cotton candy aroma. Pleasant bubblegum sweetness to it. High ABV is hidden oh so well. Would be a good after dinner drink. Nice thick mouthfeel - coates your mouth. More please?

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Kind of a stinky yeasty, peppery Belgian aroma. Label is lacking, very gold beer. A nice combination of flavor and palate -- sweet, perhaps a bit lemony, alcohol sting and pepper. Substantial mouthfeel -- bubbly, prickly, pithy. It's like a less-yeasty and clearer, but it reminds me of Don de Dieu, some. Maybe. It's hard to tell after 9.5% ABV.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bright yellow/orange, nice white head. Yeasty aroma, followed by fruit (pears and oranges). Very sweet, apple, some spice. medium to med-heavy body, starts to get cloying. not as good as i expected (due to its being overly sweet and heavy) alcohol comes through in the finish

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
hazy yellow-orange with a 2cm white head that leaves gorgeous lacing. Aroma is difficult--almost a fruity/pasta odor. Start is a class deep dusky Belgian yeast flavor with maybe a hint of orange. Palate is extremely smooth as well as a smooth and refreshing finish. Hides the 9+% extrememly well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Yeasty and orange nose. Golden hue with creamy white head. Just like a belgium blonde beer. Yeasty and orange flavour, quite sweet and bit too sweet. Good enough effort though.

Having heard and read so much about Victory, I was anxious to try my first ale from them. I don't want to say I was dissapointed, just not impressed. I chose this brew versus others because of "Eastern Exotic Spices". Initial smell was a light sweet smell. Golden color give it an easy drinking appearance. Taste covers your tongue and sticks around. The alcohol doesn't overpower the rest of the brew but it packs a punch. The is only one place in San Diego County that carries it and it cost me $12.50 for a 6 pack. I'll pass on it in the future. I am anxious to try the Hop Devil though.
