2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: APR 21, 2004 Had at the Boston Beer Summit. I have to stand in the minority on this beer -- it seemed strangely unbalanced, with a sickly multi-flavored sweetish taste. Perhaps I'll give it another shot sometime, but its not really a priority.

Followed up a bottle of fin du monde with this at Ministry. What a segue. This is richer and rounder than fin du monde. Will have to pick up a case some time.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2004 Large white head with a cloudy color. This looks like a wheat. Pears and vanilla in the aroma. The taste is peaches, vanilla and cinnamon spiciness. Sweet, bready finish. Really good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sep 08 03 bottling, about seven months old. A hazy, golden-yellow ale with a medium-sized head that is mostly diminishing. Would fare well against Cooper’s Sparkling Ale for the tricky-to-pour-without-disturbing-the-sediment award. Lightly sweet and fruity aroma, not as pronounced as you might expect. Medium body with a creamy, slightly syrupy body. Lovely flavour that is reminiscent of honey drizzled over honeydew melon. Sweet and fruity, with a restrained orange-peel spiciness. The alcohol is hidden, and the hops only make a small appearance at the finish, if at all. My guess is that this would continue to age quite gracefully. Very tasty.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice cloudy golden honey body, but pours with almost no head and I don't really like that for a tripel. The aroma is pretty quiet which is a shame because what I get seems to be truly pleasant, but I wish it was more expressive. It seems quite yeasty not unlike an apple pie crust and with a deep malt profile (fresh harvest oranges, pears, bananas, melon bubblegum), honeyish and spicy (ginger mostly). There is a restrained alcohol suggestion in the back as well. The first sip surprises by the lively carbonation which is very tongue-cleaning and complements the banana/honey/yeasty palate interestingly to my liking. Very flowery, herbal and appealing taste, with obvious but well contained warming alcohol notes. Oh yeah, the mouthfeel fits the overall experience like a charm, not so thick, but plain clean and silky. Great, if not exceptional, american rendition.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mild, herbal aroma. Pours a cloudy yellow/brassy color with a small fizzy white head. Very carbonated, mild flavor. Not much hop character. Was not a huge fan of this one, was expecting more spicey/uniqueness.

Trippels are not my favorite styles. Thus one pours frothy dark golden. Aromas of herbs, candi sugar, yeast, spice, and malt hit the nose hard. Tastes extremely sweet, with hints of candi sugar, spice, honey, yeast, and herbs. Finishes very smooth, with a final burst of heavy sweetness and malty fruitiness on the palate.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Golden, translucent apple juice color with lots of sediment floating in the vody. I put v instead of b for body because of how vicious the alcohol kick is. Aroma is faint but I pick up apples and grapes. flavor is potent and of alcohol with tart and sweet endings.

Finally tried this fine Victory beer. Cloudy, golden color. Starts off with an interesting ginger spice nose, then the body is quite interesting, with very noticeable flavors of banana, cotton candy, and a hint of caramelized sugar. Warms the body going down. A fine beer!
