Yeast, spices and citrus aroma. Golden, full head. Bready, grapefruit and coriander? Great mouthfeel, tongue tingle. Dry, warming finish. A very good Belgian Strong.

I’ve had a six pack of this sitting around the house for weeks. When I first tasted it, I thought it was vile. But, after the third attempt (the pack cost me 12 bucks, I wasn’t going to waste it), I found it to be one of the tastier new beers I’ve tried in quite some time. It’s certainly an acquired taste, but one worth acquiring.

Gold colour, the alcohol warms your whole body, quite strong. Some sweetness (honey), quite complex. Fruit aromas come out as this warms. This is one great beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2003 Big head that does not last very long. Sweet and spicy beginings with a slight hoppy bitterness aserting itself from the middle to the end. The sweetness and spiciness lingers. The ABV is very well masked by the flavor, you can feel the warmth in your belly and your head.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2003 Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a small white head that rapidly dissipates. Thousands of yeast particles can be seen floating through the beer. Good, strong aroma of malts and spices. Medium bodied with a wonderful spicy sweetness to the flavor and a fruity finish. Alcohol is well hidden. One of the best American Belgian style ales.

Great American version of a Belgian ale. Pours golden with a shade of brown in it and becomes hazy when the sediment is added. Aroma somewhat floral but with generous spices and citrus fruits as well. Smooth aftertaste and finishes well. Overall, this is recommended.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A pleasing American ’Belgian’. It looks rather poor, being urine yellow and having no head at all. The aroma hinted of citrus and hops. The first taste confirmed this. There was a strong lemony taste that washed over my tongue. Rather good but reminded me more of a Belgian White than a Belgian Strong.

Having a April 2002... lot of spice, citrus, somewhat tart with a little sweetness. Watch for the new V10, coming soon!
