| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Courtesy of fishingnet. Pours golden with thin white head. The aroma is sweet with sweet honey and some malt sweetness. It then goes to light colored fruitiness mixing with sweet dark grapes and pale malts. Interesting. The taste starts fresher and lighter than the nose led onto. Sweetness mixes with carbonation aided fruit and spice tartness along with some what of a peppery kick. The taste comes together nicely with distinctive Belgian yeast influence. gpekar (233), Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Poured a hazy golden yellow with little to no head. What head there was disappeard fairly quickly. There was a slightly sweet aroma and hints of a citrus scent. The initial taste was sweet then a little spicy toward the finish. djones (119), Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2008 Updated: Jun 15, 200812oz bottle. Clouded golden in color. Head remains, but quite small. Spice and citrus-orange aroma. Medium palate, good carbonation at first, notes of honey, orange, and caramel. Spicy sweet finish with soothing alcohol lingering.
Drink this pretty cold, as FlyFishingBob mentioned, it does take on a cough syrup taste when warm. Interesting spice aroma with a ginger influence. Also a smell of a grain barn or yeasty. Light to medium palate. Flavour is not as complex as hoped with some citrus and spice. Mildly bitter. Somewhat off-putting grain/yeast flavor - slightly disappointing - may be a bad batch. I’ve had this before and do not recall the earthy/stale flavor and may have to try again. Nice alcohol that is not overwhelming. chandler0201 (363), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2008 Golden color at pour with a quickly dissipating head. Interesting flavor, kind of sweet and kind of sour, reminds me a lot of the Belgian styles. Not as good as many of the Belgians, but a good emulation for the cost. bpowers (24), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold/yellow color with a small head which rapidly diminshes. Aroma is pretty run of the mill for a Tripel. Some yeaty/doughy notes, some bready malt and a nice spice profile (coriander and clove notes). Taste starts off with the doughy malts and the yeasty flavors and quickly transitions into the spice notes as well as some banana-y yeasty flavors and a good dose of caramel. Finish is a little too sticky/sweet for me, I prefer the Tripels that end on a more dry note, and has a bit too much alcohol in the distant finish. Mouthfeel is pretty heavy (to be expected), which isnt a bad thing but it got to be a little too sticky and spicy for me. A good emulation of the Tripel style but if I am going to reach for a domestic Tripel I’d have to choose Allagash over this. Aroma is fruit, jhoney and spicy. Flavor is that of a classic triple--fruity and alcoholic, but the spices which I can’t identify give it a unique twist. Alcohol, oranges and caramel linger. One of my local favorites for sure!
