COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Fruity hop aroma evident immediately from the newly opened bottle. Moderate head with lingering lacing. Crystal clear amber. Nice complex hop aroma from the glass with malty undertones. Body is good for a pale. Mouthful of fruity resinous hops with an adequately malty base. Finishes with a pleasant lingering bitterness. Nicely done.

from notes: Pours hazy golden-amber, with a 1-finger off-white head. Lemony aroma with a touch of bready yeast. Body is light, with a mildly dry finish. Flavor is lemony, with a grainy note beneath.

A: Golden Straw/Amber Hue, Passes Lots of Light, Almost No Head, No Lacing S: Mild Malts, Mild Floral T: Malty, Mild Piney M: Poor Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter, Mildly Dry Overall, this may not be a fault of the beer but this beer was under carbonated, which diminished the nose and taste. Would try again, somewhere else.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Lively carbonation, great lacing. Bright, green, citrus aroma. The flavour is lemony and a little soapy - is there Citra in this? Quite floral too. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation. A lovely, well balanced beer. One of my favourite American Pale Ales.

355ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Enjoy by Dec 02 2013 - Pours clear dark copper colored with a smooth white head. Aroma of caramely malts, hints of crisp grassy hops, metallic notes and some citrus. Taste is malty, caramely, crisp and slightly hoppy with hints of grass and metallic notes. Finish is sweetish, malty and caramely with hints of hoppiness. Quite malty and heavy for an APA, not that refreshing or hoppy. A bit unbalanced.

Lovely little beer. Light and grainy, leads onto a slight wet hop finish with a dash of vanilla on the tongue. Intetesting.

Bottle. Mostly clear gold/copper with a 1 finger off white head. Aroma is pleasant citrusy hops. Taste is slightly spicy, earthy and herbal. Medium mouthfeel and solid carb. Not bad.
