COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Clear gold with a frothy, white head. The aroma is light with some citrus. It has a light, slightly oily texture with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a quick finish.

8/13/14. Bottle. Pours a dark orange with a thin hard and minimal lacing. Nice floral nose reminiscent of a west coast IPA. Thick and round mouth with a strong hop presence. Wouldn't want to have more than one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice golden amber color with a nice hoppy floral aroma. On the palate you pick up the hops even more, with a nice malt backbone. Lasts nicely on the palate.

Pours a dark brown/copper with a medium white head. Very fresh floral and citrus aroma with hints of leaves or something earthy. Light to medium bitter with a just a faint hint of sweetness. The body is light to medium with a slightly sticky texture and the finish is smooth with a tad bitter. This is a decent pale ale that doesn’t beat you over head with bitter and hops. I might just buy it at bar price, but 5.2% ABV is a bit lacking.

12 oz. bottle. Amber with a foamy cream head. A satisfying dry bitterness to finish. A pleasantly drinkable APA. Well done.

Transfer from BA review on 7-12-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a nice copper color with a big billowy white head. The head fades slowly giving a good amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is lighter overall, but has a nice blend of aromas. There are hints of caramel, biscuit, grapefruit citrus hop and some pine. Taste – The taste begins biscuity and smooth. There is an ever so light sweetness, but it is very light and towards the middle it is almost completely gone. With the loss of the sweetness comes good hints of hop flavors. These are a mix of pine, citrus as well as a lighter earthy hop flavor. These flavors take the taste to the end where a bitter and lightly roasted flavor are left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is a bit above average in smoothness and thickness with a carbonation level very average. Both are fitting, but are nothing really to exceptional for the style. Overall – It has a nice more bittering flavor and is quite easy to drink. Not bad, but not the best either.
